It was the morning rush hour on a Monday, and the children were headed off to school when Russian bombs rained down on Kyiv, signaling a war returning to the Ukrainian capital.

Fourteen deaths and 100 injured were confirmed after Russian missiles attacked Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Zhytomyr, and other cities across Ukraine, in what President Vladimir Putin established was a revenge for the attack on a key bridge that connects Russia to occupied Crimea last Saturday.

The attack on the bridge was said to gravely damage the only route for military supplies for the war to reach the Russian army in the south of Ukraine.

Putin put the blames of the bridge explosion on Ukraine, and is threatening to do more strikes in defense to what he calls "terrorist attacks"

"If attempts to carry out terrorist attacks on our territory continue, the measures taken by Russia will be tough and in their scale will correspond to the level of threats posed to the Russian Federation. No one should have any doubt about it," Putin threatened in a released video Monday.

'Cowards' to blast a university, park, and playground

There were at least 14 regions in total struck by Putin's "revenge bombs", resulting to a widespread blackouts. Water supply problems and other utility issues across Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that there were 84 Russian cruise missiles and 24 drones launched, with 56 of those shot down by the Ukrainian air defenses. Energy infrastructure has been the target across the country. There were at least 70 infrastructure sites that had been damaged with 29 of those labeled as critical, Yahoo News reported.

In a speech, Zelensky expressed that the timing of the attacks yesterday was done on purpose to wreak the most damage.

Ukrainian lawmaker Lesia Vasylenko took to Twitter and posted a picture of the horrifying aftermath from one of the blasts in Kyiv. Along with the photo, she tweeted and asked what Russia was trying to hit because there was a national university, a park, and even a playground in the area.

The senior adviser to the Ukrainian President, Andriy Yermak, declared that the attacks had no "practical military sense." Thus, Russia's only goal was to bring about a "humanitarian catastrophe."

He also wrote on Telegram that the Russians are "cowards" as they are striking playgrounds and fighting children and people, once again a signal to the civilized world that "the Russian question must be solved by force."

The social media was filled with traumatic videos of Ukrainian civilians narrowly avoiding the attacks in the city, including the blast at the pedestrian bridge of the Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian people.

Hayane Avakian, the editor of Svoi.City, who was heading to work when the missile strikes happened, expressed that everything and everyone in the country is now a target as Russians are attacking the people from all directions.

The President of US, Joe Biden, on the other hand, was said to offer help to Ukraine through sending an advanced air system in a phone conversation with President Zelensky Monday after the attacks.

In a statement released by the White House, the President denounced Russia's "senseless attacks" on Ukraine and expressed his condolences to the loved ones of those injured and killed.
