Doran Smith and David Squillante had to wait more than two years before they can finally have their honeymoon in Barcelona, Spain due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, per Today. When they arrived at their dream place for a honeymoon, the American couple decided to take a walk to a scenic park in Barcelona and enjoy a tour of what they thought would be an otherwise uneventful day.
Smith noticed something wrong in a nearby building during their walk as she saw a witness running out of it and into the street while looking panicked. She then saw a flame coming out of the doorway next to the door where such women had come out. After she noticed the fire, the Bristol, Rhode Island couple immediately ran into the building leaving any second thoughts as instinct took over.
The couple didn't realize they were running into a nursery filled with sleeping babies as what they only want is to give help to those who needed it. Squillante told the outlet that he finds himself looking at 15-20 babies. Without any hesitation, he immediately kind of lined everybody up and the couple began grabbing and putting them into the cribs. Adding that no one in the building spoke English.
The two along with other bystanders and good Samaritans also help to save the babies. The room was instantly filled with smoke from what appeared to be an electrical fire. Smith explained that they were taking cribs with few toddlers in them and rolled them across the street to the high school lobby.
Saved a life and soon started a life
A pregnant mom went from taking care of someone trapped in a car due to a car wreck to welcoming her newborn baby, her third child. All in the span of 24 hours. Megan Warfield, a firefighter volunteer at the Bowleys Quarters Volunteer Fire and Rescue and works as a firefighter at Baltimore County Fire Department, was recently involved in a car accident with her mom.
The firefighter volunteer had just finished hosting an annual golf tournament in honor of her late father. As they were heading them, they got involved in the middle of a multi-car crash. When their car stopped, Megan immediately checked her mom if she was okay. As she was the driver at the time, she noticed that the car in front of them had flipped and that someone was trapped inside. Although she was waiting for her third child, that doesn't stop her from helping others.
The soon-to-be-mom of three jumped into action and ignored the chance that she could be hurt. She went out of her car and quickly went over to the car in front of them and reassured her. Firefighters and authorities soon showed up and take over the scene. It was then that she realized she was also a victim of the accident. Megan experienced cramps and felt uncomfortable and dizzy, so she went to Johns Hopkins and has some contractions the entire night and soon welcomed her third child, Charlotte, Baltimore News reported.
Protecting the baby after a certain accident
If you think your child or toddler might be injured due to a certain accident, go to the nearest hospital or call an ambulance. However, the shock they might feel caused by the sudden fright does not need immediate medical treatment, thus, comfort and reassure your child that they are safe and seek medical attention if the shock your baby felt does not go away.
Make sure that first responders are already on their way as one call to 911 should send both authorities and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) to the accident scene. Police can soon investigate what actually happened and document things in a report. The EMTs evaluate your child and can transport the child to the hospital, Hupy says.
