A family in Martin County is mourning the loss of their beloved daughter, who was killed after a tragic two-vehicle crash earlier this week near Stuart.
Emma Albritton was one of four people killed in Tuesday's fiery crash at the intersection of Federal Highway and 14th Street. The teen's parents, Tanya and Eric Albritton, told WPTV that they were devastated by the loss of their youngest daughter, but they are doing their best to remember her and all of the happiness she brought into their lives.
Dad Eric said that it is still setting in that they won't see her walk through the door or hear their child's laughter in the hallway with her sister. He said that the highway patrol officer pulled down their street, and he just screamed out that it could not be.
Emma wanted to become a physical therapist
Emma was studying to be a physical therapist and was in her second year at Indian River State College. Mom Tanya said she had a life as big as her personality, and if she met you, she would love you. She added that Emma would try and do anything for you.
Her parents said that on the day she died, she had dropped her vehicle off at the shop for maintenance, and her boyfriend's friend had come to pick her up. The two of them wanted to do some studying while they waited for her car.
Eric said his daughter lived passionately and lived her life to the fullest. He added that Emma crammed a lot of life into those 19 years and that she was the light and joy of their family. He said he was glad he randomly stopped for lunch at home on Tuesday, an hour before the crash.
Eric managed to see his daughter an hour before she died
Eric said he went into the house and had lunch, and she left. He said that he had no idea that she would be dead an hour later. He was so thankful that he just swung into the driveway by chance and saw his daughter's face that one last time.
The couple said their faith gives them comfort in this very difficult time. Tanya said they knew they would see her again with Jesus, and she would be dancing on the streets of gold. The teen girl left behind her mother, father, and sister.
Tanya said they would have a celebration of her life where everyone would be asked to wear colors and not black clothing. She said that Emma loved her life in colors, and that is how it should be celebrated.
Emma's celebration of life will take place this coming Saturday, October 29, at 11 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, located at 3660 W. Midway Road in Fort Pierce, according to TCPalm.
