This Backstreet Boys member gets candid about not being present on his daughter's birthday because he is currently touring with the band and admits that the balancing act between being a parent and his career is really hard work.
Nick Carter, 42, is currently doing the European leg of the Backstreet Boys' DNA World Tour and promoting their newest Christmas album, "A Very Backstreet Christmas."
The singer couldn't be happier. However, due to his fully loaded work schedule, he was forced to miss out on a special day for his family, his daughter Saoirse's 3rd birthday, which was earlier this October.
The father of six expressed that he "totally missed" his middle child's 3rd birthday before the band left for the road. He further stressed that juggling parenting and touring is "definitely tough."
His bandmates can relate
Carter admits that the dad's guilt can be sad, and not being present on special family occasions can be a bit frustrating. Yet, he is grateful that his bandmates do not judge and can relate with him, as they are all fathers now.
"Some of the other guys have actually gone through it, where they haven't been able to be home because the schedules just pretty much conflict. So I experienced that for the first time. But again, FaceTime helps, talking to them all the time, touching base with them. And, for us, it's our life. It's what we've done our whole life in regards to traveling. So they're kind of adjusting to it," Carter shared.
He, however, made sure not to miss out on greeting his 3-year-old little girl, who he said is the singer among his kids but currently won't let him sing to her anymore because she gets too emotional.
On his Instagram account, he posted a series of photos with daddy and baby swimming in the pool and smiling for the camera, a shadow of them holding each other's hand, his daughter wearing a Snow White costume, and a newborn Saoirse. He greeted her with a "Happy Birthday" and said he loves and misses her.

Kudos to Backstreet Boys' Wives
AJ McLean, Carter's bandmate and now a father of two, shared in an exclusive interview with People that the band tries to have a healthy balance the best they can for being a father and an artist.
He said their families join them on the tour whenever they can. There have been moments when all their families were part of the tour at the same time, and it became this "big, giant potluck, family-picnic vibe," which was so fun.
The best part, he said, was that all their children got along well, and it was just this "one big happy family."
McLean honored the Backstreet Boys' wives not only for their support but their broad understanding and patience while the boy band is currently on the road performing for their fans.
He emphasized how mothers are "definitely the hardest working" in their families, holding down the "fort" while they are singing and dancing.
