This mom names her baby girl after the COVID lockdown, and there is a sweet, sentimental reason why.

U.K. couple Jodi and Rob Cross wanted to remember the precious time the coronavirus lockdown gave them as a couple and made their marriage even better.

And, they found the perfect way when it came time to pick a name for their first baby that was born last November. The couple paid homage to their time spent at home by uniquely naming the daughter Lockie.

Lockdown blessing

Jodi explained how she and her husband had always led "very busy lives," which the pandemic put a stop to. The lockdown, she shared, gave them the sweet opportunity to slow down and be with each other more.

"I was a mobile hairdresser that worked all hours of the day and my husband is a director for an electrical company. So we felt that lockdown gave us the freedom to discover what life is really like without all the pressures," the wife and mother told People in an exclusive interview.

She narrated how they would wake up without an alarm, have full breakfast and slow mornings together. Gone are the days when each of them needed to rush out of the door. They also found the time to take walks with their dog. The lockdown made them relaxed and focused with each other.

Plus, due to the rest and relaxation that the pandemic forced them to have, they were able to get pregnant, and now have been blessed by the most beautiful gift - baby girl Lockie.

Pandemic made way for resilient relationships

The story of Jodi and Rob is a confirmation that the pandemic has "brought up opportunities for individuals and couples," as stated by a study entitled "Love in the time of COVID-19."

The pandemic gave couples the time to stay at home and spend more time together as they were also working from home. This resulted in couples having the opportunity to "join hands and move through tough times by presenting a united front against a shared stressor," making their relationships stay or become more resilient.

Jodi further shared that they came up with the name "Lockie" earlier on the pregnancy, something that is "dual" because they still did not know the baby's gender during that time.

She also revealed that along with the pandemic lockdown, there were other 3 reasons why they decided on the name Lockie.

First, the land their house was on was owned by a family with the surname Lockey. Second, she had a lady work for her at the salon with, and still, the surname Lockey. And, third, she said that she and Rob eloped and married each other at Gretna Green, Scotland, a place known for a "lot of locks."

As for what other people are saying about their daughter's unique name, Jodi declared that no one has ever said anything bad about it. All their family and friends love the name. They also do not care what other people think, especially that Rob and her see how their baby's name perfectly fits her beautiful personality.
