The victim identified as Cassidy Moreno was the ultimate victim of a road rage incident that first started with a knife fight but soon ended with gunshots at a Phoenix intersection between two men last week, KBTX reported. According to court documents obtained by the new outlet, the incident began at a four-way stop after the male driver of a four-door black sedan picked up his daughters from their school.

The site reported from the court document that the driver says, Sidney Garrand, became immediately upset when he had turned left in front of him to go south of 16th Street. Garrand quickly turned his Jeep around and followed the man and his family, which included his wife and three daughters.

Sgt. Brian Bower with Phoenix police said in a Thursday press conference that Garrand got out of his vehicle at the intersection and the two started fighting with each other. The authorities reported that the 28-year-old father stabbed the 48-year-old man multiple times before jumping back into his car; The father returned to his vehicle and started to drive away when Garrand suddenly grabbed a gun from the passenger side of his vehicle and fired at the other car.

The bullet struck a female in the vehicle

The local authorities say the adult male who was stabbed multiple times couldn't stand not having his revenge on the father and so quickly brandishes a handgun and began firing at the vehicle as he was about to leave the area. The bullets ended up striking the vehicle and unfortunately, they also struck an 8-year-old female in the vehicle.

The juvenile female was struck by a bullet and taken to the hospital in critical condition where she later died, Saturday night, from her injuries. After the driver was treated for his injuries, he was soon arrested for homicide and booked at Maricopa County Jail. It was still not known whether he has entered a plea or acquired an attorney who can speak on his behalf.

The family now raises money for the young girl's funeral on GoFundMe. Adding that they are starting a fundraiser for her sister and tiny family because they were victims of a road rage incident on their way home from their daughter's award ceremony. Noting that her niece sustained a severe injury on Saturday noon.

Avoiding road rage incidents

Road rage usually comes from feeling stressed and being in a hurry. Thus, allow yourself to have extra time for various trips so you can also slow down and be more in control behind the wheel. In fact, approximately 30 percent of road rage incidents that lead to physical aggression first began with tailgating and cutting traffic. So, be patient and use your turn signals considering that a courteous driver will clear the way for you faster than you think.

Guide Auto Web suggests always listening to the voice of reason and never allowing your emotions to cloud your judgment. Braking could upset the tailgating driver and might make you feel better, hence, could lead to an accident. Thus, if you are following a slow driver, always make sure to check the speed limit as maybe you are the one speeding. It's worth remembering that the slow driver in front of you might be someone from out of two who is not familiar with the area, a teenager, or a newbie when it comes to driving.
