Hollywood Star Jennifer Garner Shares How She Teaches Her Three Kids the Power of Giving Back
HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA - Jennifer Garner attends the 94th Annual Academy Awards at Hollywood and Highland on March 27, 2022 in Hollywood, California David Livingston

Hollywood actress Jennifer Garner remembered seeing a stranger struggling to cross the street. The mom of three pulled over and helped him. The small good deed stuck with her kids - Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10. The "13 Going on 30" star told Parents at Town & Country's ninth annual Philanthropy Summit in New York City that what she did was not a huge thing, but her children had spoken more about that moment than anything else.

It solidified "The Adam Project" actress's belief that children are always watching and that what you do spreads kindness and eventually makes a difference that speaks volumes. She added that the most powerful thing to do is just to live it. "Live it rippling out from your home," whether it's a next-door neighbor or someone you might not know at church, taking them a meal and taking children as long as you do it for something bigger, such as being involved in an organization and allow your children to see that it matters to you because that's the proper way of teaching them.

That's how the "Elektra" actress has been passing lessons to her children at home, noting that she's been exerting much of her energy and time into helping America's youngest population.

Proud of how conversations about children's health have shifted

The "Miracles from Heaven" star has been working with "Save the Children," an international humanitarian aid organization, for over a decade. She said she's proud of how conversations about children's health have shifted. The "Catch and Release" actress added that when she and Mark Shriver, the chief strategy officer at Save the Children, started trying to raise awareness of the essence of helping kids from birth to five years old, they were unfortunately met with disregard, particularly from large foundations.

Another proud accompaniment of the "The Invention of Lying" star is ultimately bringing Save the Children into her home state of West Virginia and witnessing how it helps families there, including during the enormous flooding way back in 2016.

Garner's work primarily focuses on rural America, where many families are immensely impacted by childcare access - a concerning issue in the country. Above all, many families in rural America also suffer long-standing healthcare issues and high rates of food insecurity. According to Feeding America, approximately 11 percent of rural households were food insecure in 2021. Moreover, various and massive rural communities are considered food deserts, making access to nutritious and healthy food nearly impossible.

Who are Jennifer Garner's three children?

The "Tribes of Palos Verdes" actress and Ben Affleck parted ways in 2015. However, the former married couple still co-parent their three children - daughters Violet and Seraphina and son Samuel. The former couple has amicably put their differences aside for the sake of their children and now serves as a model of how a divorced couple should be.

Violet is the oldest daughter, born in December 2005. She is undoubtedly identical to her mom and shares a similar personality and a passion for cooking. She's a mommy's girl and is fond of exploring and playing with beauty products. Seraphina arrived in the Affleck-Garner clan in 2009 and loved getting manicures and pedicures with her mom after school. She is very close with her younger brother, Samuel, and they even share a unique bond.

InTouch Weekly reported that Samuel is the youngest and only son in the family. He used to be the quietest but eventually learned to come out of his shell.
