The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Menu19 LLC, a Modesto, California establishment, is recalling roughly 5,001 pounds of frozen beef dumpling products that were reportedly produced without the benefit of federal inspection. The aforesaid frozen beef dumplings were produced from November 2020 to October 23, 2022. The 1.5-lb cartons contain 12 pieces of "Mantu menu19" and a UPC: 86000524010.
The product subject to the recall does not abide by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) mark of inspection due to the fact that Menu19 LLC is not a federally-inspected establishment. Thus, these items were just shipped to certain restaurants and retail locations in California. Further, the problem was determined during the FSIS surveillance routine activities, in particular, retail stores when it was discovered that the Mantu beef dumpling products does not have any USDA mark of inspection and were just produced in an establishment that was not even inspected by the USDA.
To date, there have been no confirmed reports of any adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. Nonetheless, anyone concerned about a reaction should immediately contact a healthcare provider.

Why do food products need to be carefully inspected?
The FSIS laboratories routinely test samples from poultry and meat collected at slaughterhouses for Salmonella. It also regulates meat from any amenable species as identified in the Federal Meat Inspection Act (FMIA), poultry as determined in the Poultry Products Inspection Act (PPIA), as well as the dried, liquid, and frozen egg products in accordance with the Egg Products Inspection Act (EPIA).
Food products, specifically meat products, need to undergo inspection as it is mainly designed to determine the health of certain animals both prior to death (ante-mortem) and after death (post-mortem.)
Basically, FSIS protects the public's health by always making sure that poultry, meat, and egg products are all safe, properly labeled, and wholesome. The FSIS is also part of a science-based national system to ensure food safety and defense.
