The birth story of Grammy Award winner Joss Stone's baby boy is one for the books. The mom of two shared during a recent interview, that she was made to undergo an emergency C-section after 30 hours of labor to deliver her son Shackleton, whom they named after Antarctic explorer Ernest Shackleton.
Delivering her youngest son was challenging as Stone had to labor for more than a day; apart from her having to go on labor for more than a day, her uterus split as her baby came down the birth canal.
Stone shared in an interview with People Magazine the frightening details of her incredibly rare delivery. She said that a team of 15 doctors and nurses hurried into the room as she was getting ready for the delivery, as her baby's heart rate suddenly slowed down.
Stone suffers uterine rupture during delivery
Stone said that her son was coming down the birth canal, and when her uterus split, his head went into her abdomen, and he went back up. She added that they had to bring him back to breathing again. What happened to Stone is a medical condition known as a uterine rupture. This type of complication is rare, as it affects less than 1 percent of pregnant people.
In a scene that could have come straight from an episode of a medical drama, Stone shared how she was ushered into the operating room in preparation for the delivery. A doctor told her that she was going to sleep and when she woke up, she had her baby, and everything was okay.
The "Tell Me 'Bout It" singer was incredibly appreciative of her entire medical team despite the traumatic experience. She said that it was like having 15 angels fly into the room, and they were trying to make her feel comfortable. She added that they were all very nice and professional, and they made her feel safe.
Stone thwarted with her planned delivery again
Stone is also the proud mother of 21-month-old daughter Violet, whom she shares with partner Cody DaLuz. As the couple prepared for their new arrival, Stone shared with her fans and followers some adorable behind-the-scenes of their growing family on social media.
In September, she posted a video on Instagram of Violet adorably ditching her dog-walking duties. Stone captioned the post that maybe dog walking chores are too much to ask at 20 months old. She added her lovely Maggie has a heart of gold.
This is the second time that Stone's intended birth plan was foiled, according to Romper. The Masked Singer winner hoped to deliver her first child using a hypnobirthing method. Unfortunately for Stone, she could not have that birthing experience as Violet was breech, and she had to have a cesarean section.
