Two senior citizens literally walked down the aisle in their grocery store wedding, uttering the words "I do" at the exact mayonnaise aisle where they first met.
Brenda and Dennis Delgado, met last August 2021 on aisle 8 of Fry's Food and Drug, Casa Grande, Phoenix suburb while contemplating over Miracle Whip and olive oil mayonnaise.
Last November 19, the two went back to the grocery store and at the exact spot where they first encountered each other. This time, not to do grocery shopping but to get married amidst mayonnaise and sandwiches spread on the shelves.
"You never know when you're going to walk down the condiment aisle at Fry's and you're going to meet someone that you didn't know you needed in your life." expressed 78-year-old Dennis Delgado, while Brenda, 72, told Phoenix NBC 12 News, "I'm 72, he's 78 now. "We don't have that many more years to do something dumb and stupid."
How the love story started
Brenda just recently lost her husband of 30 years while Dennis' wife for 45 years is also already dead.
Brenda narrated how she was merely looking for a sandwich spread on the grocery store that one day they met. Dennis struck up a conversation with her about that one benefit of wearing a mask - being able to curse other people without them hearing a word. This made her laugh and it was the start of a beautiful conversation, which led to the 2 attending Brenda's church the next week.
As it turned out, Dennis was at the same aisle to grab an olive oil mayonnaise while Brenda was getting Miracle Whip from the shelf. Ultimately, both were handed with "a miraculous love story," as Fox 13 described.
Their encounter gave birth to a deep friendship where they bonded over their shared experiences with losing and grieving their great love and ex-partners.
Dennis opened up to her about how he was "angry at God" for taking his wife away from him, and Brenda shared how she found her "purpose" again after losing her husband to prostate cancer.

Engaged and married at aisle 8
Aisle 8 of Fry's Food and Drug can now be called the "aisle of love" as Brenda and Dennis both got engaged and married in it.
Brenda shared that Dennis came by her house one day and told her that he is going to get an engagement ring, to which she agreed to. Wondering if Dennis had been drinking, she called him a couple of hours later and asked if he was drunk.
When Dennis said he was not, she realized that Dennis was not joking around and that the proposal was going to happen. What happened next surprised them both when she requested Dennis to propose at the exact condiment aisle of the grocery store where they first met, People reported.
Dennis proposed at aisle 8 in April 2022, and at this point, Fry's Food and Drug already knew about their love story and even gave the 2 the idea of getting married there as well.
Dennis recalled that beautiful point in time when the wedding march played on the loudspeakers of the grocery store, and Brenda "came around" from the next aisle and started walking towards him. He said that the moment was "wonderful."
