A family of four from Mihcigan was in a fatal car crash after celebrating New Year's with their family.
Nate and Kathleen Ayers are a family from Michigan. With them are their children, Gideon, 3, and Gwen, only 11
At around 1:30 a.m. on New Year's Day, Nate and Kathleen Ayers, of Fruitport Township, were returning home from a Christmas/New Year's Eve celebration when a car in the other lane abruptly crossed the median and crashed into their vehicle.
Looking at the damages of their car, the front part of their vehicle got totally wrecked. Despite the brutal damage to their vehicle, all four of them were immediately rescued to safety by what appeared to be their guardian angels that day.
Michigan Family's Fatal Car Crash
On their way home, Nate was driving while her wife Kathleen was on her phone talking with her brother-in-law. As reported by iHeart, Nate stated that he was the only one who saw the car coming towards them.
He counted the incidents, stating it all happened so fast; they were just on their side of the road driving when the other car came crashing, and the next thing they knew, they were hit.
It might have been luck, but a pair of strangers who served as "guardian angels" to them immediately hopped off their vehicle and helped the Ayers family.
While Kathleen was on the phone with her brother-in-law during the crash itself, the call was disconnected upon impact. He then noticed the siren of the rescuers nearby and had the instinct to drive through the scene, assuming it was the Ayers family, which is why the call got disconnected.
Furthermore, family members of the Michigan family were quickly made aware of the accident due to modern technology and were quickly able to come help them out.
The crash-detection feature on Kathleen's iPhone immediately notified her emergency contacts and prompted her to call 911. After her brother-in-law arrived, her mother, Karen, soon followed along.
Car Crash Rescue From 'Guardian Angels'
This Michigan family's fatal car crash could have gotten way worse. However, by some sort of luck, they were immediately rescued and helped by strangers, family members, and rescue authorities.
Another stroke of luck that the couple had was the complete safety of their two young children.
As reported by Fox News, Nate Ayers stated, "The kids have shown no signs of any sort of physical injuries, but our three-year-old Gideon is quite sad that "the new car is broken" and keeps asking why it broke."
They claimed that Gwen had slept through the entire accident, while Gideon was more interested in finding out what had occurred.
Nate and Kathleen Ayers did not get the names of the first couple to come and console them, as the commotion caused by the incident prevented them from doing so. With that, Kathleen began her search for them on various social media platforms.
Kathleen Ayers asked members of a Facebook group on the 2nd of January whether they recognized the two people she had described and provided a description of them. She later found out that the two couples were Catherine Kloska and David Sumner.
The two families were able to meet and talk. The Ayers were able to express their gratitude for the help that they immediately gave during the accident.
