The viral 82-year-old Walmart employee is now finally retired.
A customer's conversation with an 82-year-old Navy veteran who worked at a Walmart in Maryland went viral on social media, which ultimately led to the veteran's retirement from his job.
Upon assisting in the raising of $108,000 in a matter of days, the customer he served gave the Walmart employee the full amount so that he could reach retirement.
82-Year-Old Walmart Employee
The luck of the 82-year-old Walmart employee, Warren "Butch" Marion, a veteran of the military, changed during his casual duty hours at work.
The veteran military man was at the counter helping a customer named Rory McCarty check out his items.
McCarty was taken aback when he learned that the elderly gentleman servicing him at the counter is a widower who is still actively employed at a Walmart and works shifts lasting between 8 and 9 hours per day.
McCarthy is no stranger to social media apps and how generous the community can get when it comes to helping out other people.
According to NPR, he is the owner of a pest control company called Bug Boys, and in a narrative that could only happen in the 21st century, he has amassed a TikTok following of 280,000 people by posting films of nasty crawlies he encounters in the course of his work.
In addition to that, the man is well-known for his TikTok channel. At that very moment, he had the idea that he could use his influence on social media to work for a charitable cause. And that cause is helping the 82-year-old Walmart employee retire comfortably so he may enjoy the rest of his days.
After that, he came to the conclusion that he should film his talk with the 82-year-old Walmart employee as he was ringing up products in the checkout line.
In the video, the man can be seen and heard having a conversation with the 82-year-old Walmart employee. After that, McCarty asked his community to help Marion financially by opening a fund-raising campaign, and they raised more than $100,000.

According to the Good News Network, the video that he uploaded of them both in December has been seen more than three million times. Numerous private individuals reached out, moved by Marion's dedication and wanting to give something.
@bug_boys 82yr old Butch still putting in work. Has anybody seen the videos where a guy raised 180g's to help an 82 yr old walmart employee retire. We ought to do that for Butch. Who would donate? #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #walmart #gofundme ♬ original sound - BugBoys
So, just a few days ago, Warren Marion strolled into Walmart in Cumberland, Maryland, for the very last time after delivering a two-week notice that he would be leaving his position there. He was met with a warm welcome from the community and a giant check for the sum of $108,000 that was raised through donations from TikTok.
@bug_boys Amazing that people are still donating. Almost another $10,000 the last 2 days. Looks like I'll be presenting Butch another check. Gofundme link in my bio #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #foryourpage #fy #fypage #retire #walmart #butch #veteran #navy ♬ original sound - BugBoys
McCarty said that, as a company owner, he was amazed to see this elderly man still grinding away at his work. BugBoys' owner said he wanted to help this Navy veteran.
McCarthy added that he wanted to get him off his feet for 8 hours at a time and help him do the things he would love to do.
Fox News says that Marion was working at General Motors when he decided to retire so he could help take care of the husband of his ex-wife. After his passing, Marion took care of his ex-wife, and once she passed away, he went back to work.
Marion claims that he would use the money to pay off his bills, take some time off to rest at home, and then take a three-week vacation to Florida to visit his kids and grandchildren, whom he has not yet seen or embraced in a number of years.
