A 6-year-old Virginia boy set the record for the first school shooting incident in the country on January 6, 2023.

The 6-year-old Virginia boy shot his first-grade teacher, Abigail Zwerner, at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News, Virginia.

Further investigations by law enforcement authorities show that, besides Zwerner, the boy has threatened another teacher by lighting her face on fire.

It was revealed that the boy wrote a letter to the other teacher and stated how much he hated her and wanted to light her face on fire.

Violent Threats Before the School Shooting

The 6-year-old boy's teacher, Abigail Zwerner, has reportedly alerted and notified the school administrators with his alarming and threatening behavior.

As per The Hill, the investigation revealed that Zwener has confirmed that she has sought help regarding his student.

Other teachers in the school confirmed the same complaint, saying she has asked for intervention from the school multiple times already, even before the school shooting incident occurred.

Zwerner and other teachers at Richneck stated that they had expressed their concerns to administrators regarding the child's life-threatening behavior, but that their worries had either been minimized or ignored.

In addition, another teacher reported that the student had once sent a note to her in which he expressed his hatred for her and expressed a desire to set fire to her in order to end her life.

According to the teacher, when she brought the frightening letter to the attention of the school administration, she was told to drop it. Basically, tell her to ignore and forget the threat of the child.

The school teacher in question asked that her identity be withheld so that she would not be put in danger and so that she would not face retaliation.

Besides the threat that the 6-year-old Virginia boy usually throws at her educators, the child is also known to always throw objects and school furniture inside the classroom. This behavior has also impacted his classmates, leading them to hide under their desks during class.

Acute Disability of the Child

According to the New York Post, the parents' attorney stated that the firearm that was used in the incident was always secured by the parents. However, the statement did not reveal where the 9mm Taurus handgun was located or how the 6-year-old child obtained access to it.

The parents of the Virginia boy who was just 6 years old when he shot and killed his teacher have stated that their child suffers from a significant disability.

As a matter of fact, the unnamed first grader was under a care plan at the school due to his acute disability. The agreement between the parents and the school states that the child needs to have his mother or father with him to accompany him to class.

According to CBS News, the statements made by the victim's parents indicate that the week of the shooting was the first week that neither of them had been present in the classroom with the student.

In the statement issued, the parents showed immense remorse, saying they regret their absence on that day for the rest of their lives.

They added that they grieve the incident with all of the other teachers, families, and school administrators for how this horrific incident has impacted them, their community, and the whole country.

Since the incident, the boy has reportedly been under the supervision of medical professionals at the hospital, where he is getting the necessary therapy.
