The oldest child of Los Angeles Lakers All-Star LeBron James, Bronny James, has been selected to participate in the McDonald's All-American Game, which will have its 46th edition this year.
Bronny's father says he is proud of his son's selection in the all-American games as part of the West roster.
McDonald's All-American Games
According to the New York Post, 20 years after LeBron James was named a McDonald's All-American, his oldest kid is now given the same opportunity he had, and LeBron is as proud and excited for Bronny.
The senior from Sierra Canyon School is one of 24 players chosen for the two rosters competing against each other in Houston on March 28.
At the McDonald's All-American game in Cleveland in 2003, LeBron James was named the game's Most Valuable Player.
Three months later, the Cavaliers chose him as the first pick in the overall draft after being blown away by his brilliance in the early stages of his career.
However, unlike his father, Bronny James will not be able to follow his father's career to jump from the McDonald's All-American to the NBA as his dad did due to age restrictions.
The NBA legend was a proud father after the selection. LeBron went on Instagram to share the news with his followers, fans, and avid basketball enthusiasts.
The father wrote a short message encouraging his son to remain authentic no matter what happened.
LeBron congratulated not just his son but also all the young athletes, men and women, that were selected for the 2023 game.
The father had written that caption under a photo with the names of the 2023 McDonald's All-American Games team, the Boys West Roster.

With that, Bronny can choose which university team he will play for.
As per USA Today, last week, James selected Southern California, Oregon, and Ohio State University as his top three options for colleges to attend.
He is one of only two players in the top 30 on the 2023 ESPN 100 list of top high school players who have not registered to play for a university. He holds the position of No. 28 on the list of top high-school athletes.
In addition, ESPN places James as the eighth-best point guard in the country and commends the caliber of his skills, which continue to improve with each passing year.
Sports reporter Jonathan Givony stated that James is being given serious consideration to be selected in the first round of the 2024 NBA draft.
Aside from James, Fox News stated that three of ESPN's top prospects - No. 3 D.J. Wagner, and No. 4 Aaron Bradshaw, all of whom have signed to play for the Kentucky Wildcats, have also been chosen.
Reed Sheppard, now ranked as the 21st-best recruit in the country by Kentucky, will also attend the game and be joined by his future teammates.
