A boy named Fahim went missing while playing hide and seek with his friends in Bangladesh.

The innocent game turned sinister when he went missing and was found in a different country, Malaysia. He was said to have been accidentally taken away in a shipping container loaded onto a boat for overseas transport.

However, the authorities suspect that the hide-and-seek reasoning could be a cover for a much worse incident.

The lost boy lands in Malaysia

The young boy found himself in a terrifying and disorienting situation after being accidentally shipped from Bangladesh to Malaysia.

According to World News Era, Fahim was playing in the port city of Chittagong when he chose a shipping container as his hiding spot. Unknowingly, he fell asleep inside the container, unaware it was being loaded onto a ship bound for Malaysia.

The container left on January 11 and arrived at Malaysia's Port Klang on January 17. Desperate for help, Fahim began pounding on the walls and shouting for assistance until port workers eventually found him.

Upon arriving at the port in Malaysia, Fahim was surrounded by unfamiliar faces who could not communicate with him as they spoke a different language.

Videos on social media platforms showed the disheveled and emotionally distressed child emerging from the container in a foreign country.

Due to his ordeal, Fahim was dehydrated, starved, exhausted, and taken to a nearby hospital for examination, where he was found to have a high fever.

Authorities are investigating the incident. It is feared that the child may have been a victim of human trafficking.

Authorities suspect human trafficking

The port authorities were initially concerned that the boy may have been a victim of human trafficking, as it was unclear how he had ended up in their country.

However, after conducting an investigation, the police ruled out this possibility. According to the Mirror, the Home Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, stated that the boy had entered the container on his own accord and had fallen asleep during the voyage.

He added that they would not be drawing any conclusions regarding human trafficking as the initial investigations revealed that the incident was an accident.

Fahim was sent home safely, and the repatriation process was carried out according to legal channels. The Home Minister emphasized that the lost boy's well-being was of utmost importance and that the necessary measures were taken to ensure his safe return to his family.

The government authorities in Malaysia were immediately alerted to the situation, as they had dealt with a similar case last year.

The New York Post reported that last October, law enforcement located the remains of a 15-year-old boy who had tragically died after becoming trapped inside a shipping container that had taken a similar journey from Chittagong to Malaysia's Penang port.

The body was in an advanced state of decomposition, indicating that the boy was trapped for an extended period before being found.

This tragic incident highlights the dangers of hiding in shipping containers, as the conditions inside can be life-threatening, especially when the container is sealed and transported over long distances.
