The hype about the popular fictional drama series "Game of Thrones" season 6 intensifies as we near its premiere date. Since season 5 ended, fans haven't stopped talking about the crowd-favorite character Jon Snow who was stabbed to death in the last season. Will he return in season 6?
There are talks that a new character is cast to join "Game of Thrones" season 6, and she will be crucial in Jon Snow's fate. Brit actress Melanie Liburd has been cast as the Red Priestess in HBO's hit series, Deadline reports.
In a previous report from Parent Herald, Liburd was captured by the L7R's cameras filming for a scene of the Red Priestess. She was addressing the people of Meereen as they surround her. Even before the reports about Liburd joining the cast made headlines, her filming as the Red Priestess already confirmed her role.
According to IGN, Carice van Houten aka Melisandre has been the Red Priestess in the previous seasons. Another Red Priestess was introduced in season 5, played by Rila Fukushima.
The report suggests that Liburd's casting will give a new direction for the Red Priestess' character. There are speculations that Melisandre will play a big role in bringing Snow's character back from the dead.
The last season ended with the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch lying lifeless after being stabbed by his men. The betrayal was intense, it broke the hearts of the audience who until now cannot accept how the beloved character played by Kit Harington could have died in such a cruel death.
However, the issue about Snow's fate remain unsure. There were reports claiming that Snow is spotted on the set, but the actor and the production team deny Snow's return in the show.
During the New York Comic-Con, Snow was obviously in everyone's mind. When the "Game of Thrones" panel and stars Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell), Finn Jones (Loras Tyrell) and Keisha Castle-Hughes (Obara Sand) were asked which character they'd like to interact, all three answered with "Jon Snow."
However, not long before they could talk about Snow, Jones said, "He's dead, we couldn't possibly work with him anymore! ," Variety has learned.
Meanwhile, Sibel Kekili, 35, was spotted on the set in Peniscola, Spain which triggers the speculation that her character, Shae is back.
Shae was strangled to death by Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) at the end of season 4, after he discovered her betrayal during his trial.
Will Jon Snow and Shae return from the dead? Let's see.
"Game of Thrones" Season 6 will return on Spring of 2016.
