The American animal rights non-profit organization released a new video reminding the world that animal agriculture is the primary cause of climate catastrophe and warning parents about the devastation of the next generation's future environment if meat and dairy are not banned at home.

"Are you a bad parent?" This is the opening statement of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) new video that tackles the dangerous effects of animal agriculture and how it is building a future to be feared, especially for children and the next generation.

Parents are being encouraged to "safeguard their children's future" by saving their homes from "environmentally devastating" meat and dairy before it's too late and things get worse.

Parents should 'do better' by feeding their family vegan

The video has been released on YouTube and is yet to be released on TV.

The organization is hopping on the bandwagon of excited viewers of the season finale of the post-apocalyptic show "The Last of Us" and use its storyline for their new video that will be aired this coming Saturday and Sunday on the SYFY cable channel during the run of the movies "The Day After Tomorrow" and "Zombieland." It will also be aired during the season eight premiere of "Fear The Walking Dead." The shows have the same post-apocalyptic theme to garner more attention and bring the point more intently.

Much like the lead character Ellie in "The Last of Us," the protagonist in PETA's video is a young orphan girl navigating a world after the apocalypse. She is heard enumerating the list of rules her mother enforced to keep her safe like not going near the stove and not talking to strangers online.

"You said it was your job to protect me. You were always telling me what not to do. ... But you never said, 'Don't eat meat or dairy.' Now look what you've done," the girl says after breaking a glass wall and disappearing.

The statement "Animal agriculture is killing the planet" and the encouragement "Do better. Feed them vegan," appears on the screen then.

Vegan diet safe for kids

PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman stressed how the children would face an alarming and harrowing future if the world continuously pumps greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere because of meat and dairy production.

She urged parents to start feeding their children vegan to stop building an "inhospitable planet" for them.

Families going vegan will not only help save the planet but will also save 200 lives of animals each year, PETA Kids proclaimed. These animals will also be saved from being crammed into filthy warehouses and sheds, mutilated without pain relief, and forced onto trucks to be slaughtered.

Most of all, going vegan can provide kids and adults with both healthy and meaningful lives. Parents need not worry about their children, PETA emphasized, as all the vitamins and minerals, as well as iron, protein, and fiber, can be found in a plant-based, vegan diet. And all these come without the cholesterol, saturated animal fat, and contaminants from meat, eggs, and dairy.
