The Easter Holiday is fast approaching, and for sure the kids are expecting to do something fun and exciting with the entire family. However, fun and excitement can also mean a lot of money-spending. A financial expert urges parents not to worry, though, because there are a lot of Easter activities that need not break the bank.

Many families are already planning things to do with the children over Easter's school holidays, and with the planning also comes the grueling task of budgeting. With the inflation and the price increase of all the basic necessities happening right now in the country's economy, these extra-curricular activities with the kids can put a strain on the finances.

Money.co.uk savings expert Lucinda O'Brien tells parents not to worry too much, Chronicle Live reported, as she put together a list of fun activities for the family that will not cost a fortune.

6 Budget-friendly Easter activities

1. Get artsy-crafty with the kids

There's nothing more budget-friendly than doing arts and crafts with the kids at home. Not to mention that kids love getting creative and dirty. Aside from doing the popular Easter egg hunt, the family will truly enjoy painting Easter eggs together. Cook some hard-boiled eggs, allow them to cool, and present them to the kids with paint and paintbrushes ready. Give them the freedom to paint their own Easter eggs however they want.

2. Do the Easter egg hunt in the family garden

There is no need to spend too much on registering the kids to a public Easter egg hunt. They can experience the traditional egg hunt in the safety of the family's house, garden or backyard. Parents need only to buy the cheap miniature wrapped eggs available in supermarkets and hide them all over the place. Suggested great hiding places outdoors are in low tree branches, plant pots or garden beds. Inside the home, the eggs can be hidden under the chairs and tables, on the toy containers or behind throw pillows and decorative items.

3. Movie Marathon

Enjoy the Easter chocolate together with the family in front of the TV while watching a good family movie. Either push the button of the remote control to go to BBC, ITV and Channel 4 for free Easter, child-friendly contents or check the families' DVD collection.

4. Visit free museums or galleries

There are a lot of museums and galleries that offer free entry, and on Easter holidays, they have prepared events and activities for kids to explore. Parents should take advantage of great and affordable activities like this. Aside from it being cost-saving, the gain is beyond rewarding. Children get to have "an educational and culturally enriching experience."

5. Enjoy a home-cooked Easter roast

Easter weekend is synonymous to roast dinners. However, taking the entire family out for roast dinner can truly be costly. Thus, parents are encouraged to prepare a roast lunch or dinner at home. And, how can this be a fun experience for the kids? Get them involved in the preparation and cooking. Make it more fun by giving them rewards for helping or offering a prize to the best roast potatoes.

6. Get physical and active

After enjoying the family's roast lunch and all the Easter chocolate and candy treats, make use of the full energy that the family, especially the children, have. Go out and get active! Grab some fresh air and be one with nature for free. Take the kids to the nearest park and do sports games, bike rides, or simply play with them in the playground. Once again, this activity does not require so much money but provides priceless benefits as the outdoors will always be great for children's physical and mental health.
