"The Incredibles," the animated superhero family movie released in 2004, is getting a sequel. Sadly, the confirmed date for The Incredibles 2's release is still far, causing a lot of fans to react negatively.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel's release will be on June 21, 2019, four more years from now. The movie is only one of the many that Disney has listed for release in its calendar.
According to the Inquisitr, this 15-year gap between the first movie and the sequel is the longest wait for an installment movie, longest in the history of Pixar studios. Although that may be so, the fact that a date has been set is still something big in the movie industry.
Yet, the four-year wait is still causing an uproar, as seen in social media site Twitter.
In addition to the long wait that Incredibles fans will have, fans of the Toy Story franchise are also given a setback as the planned release date for Toy Story 4 gets pushed back by a year, from June 16, 2017 to June 15, 2018.
The news outlet says that it was pushed back to make way for Cars 3, another animated film that centers on the life of living cars Lightning McQueen and friends. This move by Disney got fans even more disappointed.
THR adds that Disney has dated 14 new movies included in its calendar which runs until 2020. Cars 3, The Incredibles 2, and Toy Story 4 are some of the movies included. Other films include Pixar's Coco on Nov. 22. 2017, and Gigantic on March 6, 2018.
Regarding the plot for The Incredibles 2, writer Brad Bird told Collider in an interview early in September that he's working on it.
“I have the story arc. I’m probably three-quarters through the script, first pass through the script, but we’re already boarding parts of it. I’ve got a lot of people that worked on the first one working on it, so we’re all having a good time with it.”
That's it for The Incredibles 2 now.
There's also noise in the Marvel Studios Universe, as the Black Panther is rescheduled to an earlier release on Feb. 16, 2018, followed by Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6, 2018. Coming next is Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019.
