X-Men fans rejoice! The official synopsis for the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse movie has been released, and in it are some details that fans would surely like.
According to Collider, the synopsis has been released through a press release brought about by 20th Century Fox's tie-in with M&M's. It sheds more light on what's going to happen in the story.
“Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible.
"Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign.
"As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”
From there fans will find that Raven will lead the new X-Men team in the fight. Collider adds that although Professor X is involved, the synopsis suggests that his involvement might be that of a mentor.
According to Screen Crush, those who follow the updates regarding the movie must have somehow noticed that nothing is surprising, although it should be noted that Fox repackaged Raven's character into being a protagonist – showing that the company just can't make Jennifer Lawrence into a villain.
Coming Soon reports that the synopsis' release comes with a cute photo depicting two film characters as M&M's. Magneto and Storm come as the green and yellow sweet snack, respectively.
Aside from Lawrence, McAvoy and Fassbender, X-Men: Apocalypse will be starred by Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Evan Peters, and Lucas Till.
They will be joined by newcomers Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Ben Hardy, Tye Sheridan, Olivia Munn, and Lana Condor. Apocalypse will be played by Oscar Isaac.
This upcoming installment is said to be the conclusion to the trilogy which includes "X-Men: First Class," and "X-Men: Days of Future Past." The film is directed by Bryan Singer, and is set for release on May 27, 2016.
