Game company Electronic Arts announced on Twitter today that the beta for Star Wars Battlefront has been extended. However, the extension is a short one: just one more day.
According to Polygon, the Battlefront beta, currently open for all on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, features both single-player and local multiplayer missions on top of two maps online.
It has already surpassed some expectations even in beta. Some tweeted their happiness about the game, and wanted the beta to last a bit more.
IGN reports the extended beta period has a downside: players who connect might experience connectivity issues from October 12 Monday through October 13 Tuesday, as the extended period was meant for technical tests.
Matthew Everett, Star Wars Battlefront forums community manager, wrote:
"Hope you’re enjoying the Star Wars Battlefront beta and thank you for playing – every time you log on, it’s helping us ensure the experience is going to be great at launch. As we get into the late stages of the beta, we will begin conducting further technical tests on our infrastructure.
These additional tests will start on Monday, October 12 and will run thru Tuesday, October 13th, which will add an additional day to the open Beta. These tests are to help us find some extreme scenarios, and that means some players may experience occasional issues such as being kicked from the game or losing connectivity. This is all being done in the name of shoring up our infrastructure before we launch on November 17th.
Please continue to provide your feedback around the Beta and we look forward to seeing you on the battlefront in November."
According to IGN, Star Wars Battlefront is a shooter franchise set in the world of Star Wars. Players can choose to fight as part of the heroic Rebel Alliance or the evil galactic Empire.
According to ExpertReviews.co.uk, the game features stunning graphics, and players will get to enjoy first- or third-person perspectives. Characters are customizable, as well as weapons, gear, and abilities.
Niklas Fergraeus, Battlefront design director, told the Associated Press that players can even play as Darth Vader, complete with lightsaber-wielding and force-using skills. Talk about fun.
Star Wars Battlefront will be officially available for retail on November 17, 2015 in the U.S., and November 20, 2015 in the U.K. It will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC platforms. Excited gamers might possibly have it earlier through the EA Access subscription service.
