The demonstration comes in response to the Loudoun County Public Schools' adoption of Policy 8040, which permits transgender, non-binary, and gender-fluid students to use school facilities that align with their gender identity.

The protesting students are calling for a return to gender-exclusive restrooms, locker rooms, and showers, citing privacy and safety concerns.

The policy in question, implemented by the Loudoun County School Board in 2021, has sparked considerable debate within the community. During the walkout, one male student expressed discomfort at sharing locker room space with students who are biologically female but identify as male, labeling the situation as an "invasion of privacy."

Similarly, a female student voiced her fears by revealing she refrains from using the school bathrooms altogether to avoid what she perceives as a "massive safety risk."

"I'm here to support all of the children," one supporter told WJLA, emphasizing the inclusivity of the policy.
