A three-day-old infant, Abdiel de Jesus Partido Chavez, who was abducted by his nanny after drugging his mother and grandmother, has been discovered alive in a bag on a street.
The kidnapping occurred on January 25 in the Renacimiento neighborhood of Pachuca, in the Mexican state of Hidalgo.
The nanny, identified as Nelly Janeth Ramirez, allegedly drugged the baby's family with tea before taking him, along with stealing three mobile phones and cash. Ramirez left a threatening note claiming affiliation with a criminal organization before fleeing.
Caregiver Abducts 3-Day-Old Baby
On Wednesday night, Ramirez reportedly offered the baby's mother and grandmother tea containing a sleep-inducing substance, as reported by sources. She then left with the 3-day-old baby and several things belonging to the family.
Ramirez allegedly left a menacing message at the residence where the baby's mother lived with her mother and uncle, instructing them not to become overly emotional about the abduction. According to the family, the note, authored by their nanny, indicated her affiliation with a criminal group and advised against attempting to locate her and the baby.
The family contacted the police, leading to a nationwide AMBER alert, urging the public to provide information on Ramirez and the baby's whereabouts.
Caregiver, Police Officer Partner Attempts To Obtain Birth Certificate for Abducted Baby
Acting on a tip about the baby, the police searched a residence for Ramirez, but she had already fled before their arrival. Ramirez's partner, Omar Alexis Billiards, an active police officer in the municipality, had requested permission to be absent on the day of Abdiel's abduction and is suspected to have been an accomplice in the kidnapping.
Omar Alexis Billiards, the police officer from Valle de Chalco implicated in the baby theft case in Pachuca, attempted to procure a fraudulent birth certificate, as revealed by Carlos Jiménez, a journalist specializing in security matters from Mexico City, on his X account (formerly Twitter).
Using his social media platforms, the reporter shared a 1-minute and 24-second video depicting the police officer, Omar Alexis Billiards, in Valle de Chalco. The footage accessible to the journalist captures Omar Alexis Billiards engaging in conversation with an individual, although the specific location remains undisclosed.
On January 25, Billiards is seen disembarking from a vehicle and entering a hospital, where he makes an attempt to obtain a birth certificate.
Omar Alexis Billiards is romantically involved with Nelly Janeth Ramírez, the nanny who, exploiting the trust placed in her, drugged the mother and stole Abdiel, the three-day-old baby. However, this duo of criminals did not succeed in their criminal endeavor.
The kidnapped three-day-old baby was found two days later in the Guadalupana neighborhood, abandoned in a bag on the streets. Fortunately, he is in good health and was reunited with his mother on January 27, as reported by local media.
The baby was discovered in Valle del Chalco, a city in the state of Mexico, through a collaborative effort between Hidalgo and Mexican authorities. Sources say that the baby had been abandoned and later found by neighbors.
Governor Delfina Gomez of the State of Mexico commended the cooperation between Mexican and Hidalgo authorities, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between governments for the well-being of their entities.
The search for the suspects, Ramirez and her partner, Billiards, is ongoing. As of now, it remains unclear if any arrests have been made or if charges will be filed.
