"Dota 2" has just made its recent update. However, to the surprise of many it seems to contain several unusual files which could be linked to "Half Life 3," Trusted Reviews has learned.
According to Guru 3D, a file named "hl3.txt" was found in the recent update of "Dota 2's" text files. The said file mentions ziplines, squads, citizens, NPCs and VR. Among the files in question which can be found here include:
- "Element.prop_zipline"
- "npc.quest/citizen" "If you want your citizens to squad with the player but not obey commands the player gives to move the squad, put a concept here and this citizen will speak the concept instead of obeying the order."
- "vrchaperone" and "vrmovement"
- "npc_turret_ceiling_pulse"
Well, aside from these files several features of the game were also discovered and among the interesting finds according to The Bitbag are:
§ Combine Pulse Ceiling Turret
§ Procedural generation
§ Zip lines
§ VR movement
§ Squad
§ Neutral to Combine and [don't] take damage
§ VR chaperone
§ Invincible Hunter
It's been a decade since Valve Corporation release "Half Life 2: Episode Two" and up to now, Valve remains mum about the future of the series. However, for those who are hoping to play "Half Life 3" chances are high.
Earlier this year, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell expressed his knowledge about the fans' eagerness for another "Half Life," "Left 4 Dead" or "Team Fortress." He, however, stressed that gamers can't expect developers to design games the way they did 10 or 15 years ago.
Valve has evolved in terms of shipping and making games. Newell teases fans that players should expect future games to reflect this evolution.
Newell also stressed that they will be building on what they learned and they have learned a lot. The team is not going retro because too many interesting things have been learned. Although, Newell did not mention names, the report suggests that he meant "Half Life 3" when he said this:
"The only reason we'd go back and do like a super classic kind of product is if a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve said they wanted to do it and had a reasonable explanation for why [they did]."
Newell stressed that doing another "Half Life" and ignoring their learning in shipping "Portal 2" and all the updates in the multiplayer side is a bad choice. So they will keep forward.
As for the fans, they are hoping that Valve is still considering "Half Life 3" and that it will be coming soon.
