A dad of three from Massachusetts, whose wife is accused of strangling their children during a bout of postpartum depression, finishes the Boston Marathon with tears in his eyes, wearing his daughter's bow and bracelets of his sons.

Dad Completed Boston Marathon in Honor of His Three Children

Patrick Clancy, 33, finished the marathon in just under four hours on Monday, raising over $75,000 for Boston Children's Hospital in memory of his three deceased children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 7 months, who were killed a little over a year ago.

Clancy, emotionally touched by the support, expressed his love for his children and shared fond memories of their short but meaningful lives.

Sporting a bright blue and orange checkered Miles for Miracles jersey with a handwritten tribute to his children on the back, Clancy explained that training for the marathon became healing for him after the misfortune, serving as his inspiration and purpose.

All through the marathon, Clancy was eleted by the cheers of the crowd, despite his name not being visible on his shirt. However, it was the remembrance of his children that truly sustained him, which he brought along for the entire journey. He wore his daughter Cora's tiny blue bow on his left shoulder, along with bracelets representing Callan and Dawson.

Additionally, he carried a resin with his children's handprints given to him by Boston Children's Hospital, where Callan passed away days after the incident.

Exceeding his fundraising target, Clancy raised $77,062 for the hospital as part of their Miles for Miracle team. He repeated his forgiveness towards his spouse, Lindsay Clancy, who is undergoing mental health medications after pleading not liable to three counts of first-degree killings.

Clancy had formerly conveyed concerns about his spouse's mental well-being to friends, stating that he believed she was being overmedicated.

Mother Strangles Her Three Children

A Massachusetts mom, accused of killing her three children before trying suicide, was formally charged by a grand jury last September of last year, advancing her case to superior court.

Lindsay Clancy, 32, faces charges of killing and strangulation following the death of her children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan, in January 2023, as declared by the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.

Allegedly, Clancy tied exercise rope around each child's neck for several minutes before injuring herself and leaping out of a window while her husband was away.

Clancy pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges in February from Brigham and Women's Hospital, where she had been hospitalized since the incident.

The indictment by the grand jury means Clancy will face arraignment again, this time in Plymouth Superior Court. The exact date has not been specified, as Clancy remains hospitalized.

The tragic incident deeply impacted the Duxbury community, and local responders received counseling for the distressing scene described by District Attorney Timothy Cruz as "an unimaginable, senseless tragedy." Prosecutors outlined disturbing details of the circumstances leading up to the children's passings.

Clancy appeared to have a normal day, taking her daughter to a doctor's appointment and playing outside with her children. However, prosecutors assert that she accurately planned the murder, including sending her husband out on an errand. During his absence, Clancy allegedly strangled her children in the basement. Cora and Dawson were declared dead at the scene, while Callan was hospitalized but later succumbed to his injuries.

Clancy herself sustained severe injuries and is paralyzed from the waist down, according to her lawyer. Despite the gravity of the situation, her husband has expressed forgiveness and urged others to do the same.

Contrary to the prosecution's portrayal, letters from friends and colleagues depict Clancy as a devoted mother and valued nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital.
