The Howard University student's death is leaving the campus in shock from a suspected speeding car accident by a faculty member of the institution.
The student was identified as a freshman named Mohamed Samura and was immediately rushed to the hospital for his injuries.
In a previous update, a DC Fire and EMS spokesperson stated that "the patient was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries." However, things took a different turn after a few days.

The campus car crash incident, reportedly driven by a faculty member, collided with Mohamed Samura, an 18-year-old from Fredericksburg, Virginia.
The Metropolitan Police Department's initial findings revealed that the speeding Audi failed to navigate a turn, hitting a parked vehicle before striking Samura near a crosswalk.
Following the impact, Samura was rushed to a local hospital with severe injuries. Despite medical efforts, he tragically passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, deeply affecting the university community.
In remembrance of Samura, a solemn gathering took place at the Howard University flagpole, where friends, faculty, family, and peers gathered, holding fresh roses and offering each other comfort during this difficult time.
Known affectionately as "Mo," Samura was a promising freshman at Howard University, pursuing a career in information systems.
Furthermore, a GoFundMe campaign, organized by Samura's cousin to cover funeral expenses, highlighted the sudden and heartbreaking nature of his passing.
The fundraiser urged support for Samura, and the page also confirmed that the freshman was fatally struck by a vehicle while en route to a campus lecture on April 11th, allegedly involving a Howard faculty member.

Mohamed Samura Remembered
Acquaintances with Samura, including professors and classmates, are also in a state of shock about his death.
Yasmine Ogbe, a classmate of Mo, describes him as a friend who has a positive impact on everyone he meets and always has a big smile on his face.
Ogbe, in disbelief, added, "I don't know, it's so weird cause I literally just saw him last Wednesday in class and then he's just gone."
English professor Nico Penaranda described his student Mo as kind, outspoken, and extremely intelligent. He added, "He really blossomed, he really engaged. I often looked to him for answers."
Furthermore, Howard University President Ben Vinson III, Ph.D., conveyed his deep sorrow regarding Samura's passing in a message shared on social media.
He expressed the university's heartfelt sympathy and prayers for Samura's family, friends, peers, and mentors during this challenging period.
"We extend our sincere condolences and prayers to his loved ones during this difficult time. May they find comfort in the cherished memories they shared with him. Moreover, I urge everyone to respect the family's privacy and keep them in our thoughts and prayers," stated Vinson.
The message portrayed Samura as an exceptional and bright individual within the Howard University community.
He was recognized for his academic achievements, being on the Dean's List at the School of Business, and was actively involved as a member of the university's ESports team.
