A disastrous turn of circumstances unfolded during a child's birthday party when a car smashed into a building at a boat club in Michigan, leading to the death of two kids, as reported by authorities.
Two Siblings Die During Birthday Party
The circumstances happened around 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, when a vehicle crashed with the Swan Boat Club in Berlin Township, coming to a stop 25 feet inside the structure where the birthday party was being held, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Police verified that two young children, aged five and eight, died at the scene. It remains unclear if the party was intended for either of these children.
Emergency services attended to 13 added victims, consisting of both adults and kids, with three kids and six adults afterward transferred to local hospitals with serious wounds. The identities of the casualties have not been revealed.
Authorities declared that a 66-year-old female, whose name was not disclosed, was driving the car. She has been taken into police detention on doubt of driving under the influence, leading to an accident.
The sheriff's office determined that further charges are possible as the inspection advances.
Detailing the outcome as "extremely chaotic," first responders worked ardently at the location. The investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
In response to the disaster, Swan Boat Club declared on Facebook that it would be shut for the remainder of the weekend due to the "terrible accident" that happened on Saturday, leading to "numerous injuries and significant damage to the pavilion." The venue requested prayers for all those affected by the incident.

A Michigan prosecutor declared on Monday that investigators need more time to gain data before deciding charges in the disastrous passing of two young kids, who were murdered by a supposed drunk driver at a child's birthday party over the weekend.
Monroe County prosecutor Jeff Yorkey mentioned in a brief statement that they anticipate deciding on charges by Tuesday.

The circumstances happened when a 66-year-old female drove into the Swan Creek Boat Club in Berlin Township, leading to the death of 8-year-old Alanah Phillips and her 5-year-old brother, Zayn Phillips, at a birthday event attended by both kids and adults. The disaster unfolded about 30 miles south of Detroit.
Their mother and another sibling were among the nine individuals injured, who were subsequently taken to hospitals, as reported by the Flat Rock school district and a crowdfunding page established to support the family.
On Monday, the sheriff's office disclosed that five people remained in critical or serious condition.
The authorities did not specify the honoree of the birthday party. A bar where the driver allegedly consumed alcohol was temporarily closed but reopened on Sunday.
Counseling services were made available at Flat Rock schools on Monday to assist students and staff in coping with the distressing event.
