A thrifty mother has infuriated parents both online and in her community by revealing that she charges for items consumed by kids during playdates at her home.

Mother Charging Parents for Playdates At Her House

Brianna Weimar, a 33-year-old from Monroe, Washington, detailed the various items she bills other parents for, ranging from snacks to soap used when washing hands.

After sending a PayPal-like request for £28 to one mom, she found herself in a heated argument and received thanks for her "hospitality."

"Parents have been shocked, confused, angry, saying that they will not send their kids over to our house anymore. People have been very critical, they do not agree with this method at all," Brianna said.

She started considering charging for the things children consume at her house due to rising prices and the cost-of-living increase. To ensure fairness, she created a spreadsheet to track her expenses.

Despite the disagreement with one mom, Brianna confirmed that the Venmo request was paid. She charged for snacks, meals, drinks, soap, 45 minutes of electricity, a cleaning fee for spilled juice, and even 10 minutes of using marker pens.

"Food is getting so expensive now. I was constantly refilling my kids' snacks from all of their friends being over to play at our house.

I have a very detailed spreadsheet of all the snacks my kids eat and the supplies they use. I calculate the cost of each item or pump of soap.

For example, I weighed out how many ounces each pump of soap is, then divided the cost of the bottle by the ounces," she explained.

"I've been charged myself once when my son broke a valuable vase at someone's house and they billed me for it," she added.

Brianna Weimar Discussed the Controversy Sparked by Her Demand for Reimbursement

Brianna Weimar, hailing from Monroe, Washington, took to TikTok to share the controversy surrounding her insistence on reimbursement for snacks, toiletries, and even electricity.

In a post originally shared with her 683,000 followers, the 33-year-old showcased screenshots of her conversation with another mom, where her actions were criticized as a "price-gouging scheme."

Weimar defended her approach, stating she compiled a detailed list of expenses incurred during the playdate, including food consumption, soap usage, and even the cost of electricity during video game sessions.

Despite facing backlash, Weimar listed nine items she charged for, such as juice boxes, snacks, and soap pumps. While some viewers disagreed with her financial demands, others supported her notion, suggesting transparency about costs beforehand. Weimar explained her rationale, citing rising living costs and the need to offset expenses.

Although her method garnered criticism and strained relationships, Weimar emphasized the necessity of addressing the increasing financial burden of hosting playdates.

She disclosed her meticulous spreadsheet tracking expenses and recounted being charged herself when her child accidentally damaged a valuable item at someone else's house.
