Vitamix has significantly expanded its recall on high-end blenders due to the risk of injury from exposed blades. Despite the serious nature of the hazard, the company has decided against issuing refunds, deciding rather to give clients repair kits.

Vitamix Blender Recall Expands After Injury Reports

In response to multiple injury reports, Vitamix announced on Thursday that it's expanding its recall to include roughly 569,000 blending containers and blade bases. This recall is an extension of a significant action taken in 2018, which originally involved over 100,000 units.

The company has received 27 reports of lacerations caused by exposed blades, including 11 reports from the earlier recall. The issue arises when the blending container separates from the blade base, exposing the sharp blades and posing a serious threat of deep cuts.

Customers are advised to instantaneously stop using the recalled parts and contact Vitamix to obtain a repair kit.

Vitamix Repair Kits To Be Provided Instead of Refunds

Although the recall highlights a critical safety issue, Vitamix has decided not to offer refunds or replacements for the faulty parts. Rather, the company is providing repair kits that include a protective plastic shroud to cover the blade base and detailed instructions for installation.

Vitamix has collaborated with Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to develop this solution.

A Vitamix representative stated that the company's priority is the safety of its clients. The representative added that all the products from Vitamix are well-designed products that go to extensive testing, using the 130 test procedures in Vitamix's roster to assess every element for quality and longevity.

High-End Blenders Affected Nationwide

The recall affects blending containers and blade bases from the Vitamix Ascent and Venturist Series, specifically the 8-ounce and 20-ounce containers.

These parts were sold either independently or bundled with certain blender models, including the Venturist V1200, Ascent A2300, Ascent A2500, Ascent A3300, and Ascent A3500.

The affected products, which can bring between $549.95 and $749.95, and bundled sets reaching nearly $1,000, were available at major retailers like Costco, Best Buy, Crate & Barrel, Macy's, Target, Williams Sonoma, and Walmart. They were also sold online via Amazon, Vitamix, and QVC from April 2017 through May 2024.

Vitamix is also prompting customers who shared in the 2018 recall to stop using those repaired parts and to seek the new form kit to ensure continuous safety.

The company continues to guarantee the safety of its clients. For users of Vitamix blenders, the priority is safety. Those with the affected blending holders and blade bases should act immediately to acquire the necessary form accouterments and avoid implicit injury.

While the lack of refunds may be disappointing to some, Vitamix's efforts to address the safety enterprises through the provision of repair kits emphasize their commitment to consumer well-being and product safety.

Vitamix's expanded recall underscores the significance of addressing safety issues instantly and effectively. By offering form kits, the company aims to alleviate the pitfalls associated with their high-end blenders and ensure the continued trust and safety of their guests.
