In another circumstance, a 12-year-old boy unintentionally shot and murdered his 14-year-old cousin in Brooklyn. Furthermore, two teens were murdered and six others injured during a violent week in May in New York City.

Suspects Charged for Man's Death in Restaurant Shooting
A woman and her teen son are blamed for murdering in the firing death of a 32-year-old man in the West Pullman neighborhood.
Carlishia Hood, 35, and her 14-year-old son arrived in bond court on Thursday after being recognized from surveillance footage as the suspects accountable for firing Jeremy Brown during an argument on Sunday night at the Maxwell Street Express on South Halsted Street.
According to prosecutors, Hood was in line ordering food while her son waited in their car. When Brown entered the restaurant, an argument ensued, during which Hood began texting and pointing to her son. A witness laughed and encouraged Brown, escalating the situation.
Prosecutors stated that during the altercation, Brown punched Hood three times in the head. The teenage son then intervened, pulling out a firearm and shooting Brown in the back.
After Brown fled, the son pursued him outside and fired more shots at Hood's urging, resulting in Brown being shot twice in the back and later dying from his injuries.
Following the shooting, prosecutors allege that Hood attempted to have her son shoot a witness, but he resisted. They then fled the scene and returned home.
On Thursday, both suspects turned themselves in and were taken into detention. They now face liabilities of first-degree killing.
Hood, who held a valid FOID card and concealed carry license, also faces liabilities for providing to the misconduct of a minor. Neither had a previous criminal record.
Hood's bond was set at $3 million, and she is scheduled to present herself in court on July 12. Her son was ordered held without bail and is anticipated in court on July 25.
