Reality television star Amy Slaton, known for her role on TLC's "1,000-Lb. Sisters," is facing serious legal troubles after an incident at a Tennessee zoo. On Monday, September 2, the Crockett County Sheriff's Department responded to a call at Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo, where a guest had reportedly been bitten by a camel, according to officials.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies were confronted with more than just an animal attack. Suspicious odors emanating from a vehicle in the park's parking lot led authorities to investigate further, culminating in the arrest of Slaton and her companion, Brian Scott Lovvorn, KLTV reports. Both are now facing charges of illegal possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, illegal possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, and two counts of child endangerment, as confirmed in a post by the Sheriff's Department.

Details of the Arrest

Slaton and Lovvorn, who were in the same vehicle at the time of the incident, were taken into custody and booked into the Crockett County Jail. The Sheriff's Department has not released specific details regarding the substances found in their possession, nor have they identified the individual bitten by the camel or the extent of any injuries sustained.

In a statement released on social media, the Crockett County Sheriff's Department emphasized that the charges against Slaton and Lovvorn are "merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence." They added, "The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law."

The arrest comes during what has been a challenging year for Slaton, who has been in the public eye since the debut of "1,000-Lb. Sisters" in January 2020. Earlier this year, Slaton's husband of four years, Michael Halterman, filed for divorce. The couple shares two young sons, Gage Deon, 4, and Glenn Allen, 2.

A Tumultuous Year for Slaton

In a 2023 episode of the reality show, Slaton expressed her joy at becoming a mother, saying, "My heart is full," and noting that having two children had fulfilled a lifelong dream. "Our family is finally complete. We can put us in a frame and hang us on the wall now," she added.

However, the reality star has also been open about the struggles she has faced. In December 2023, Slaton spoke candidly about the impact of her divorce on her mental health, revealing that the past year had been "the worst it's ever been."
"It wasn't just affecting me, it was affecting Gage and Glenn. So it was just rough," Slaton admitted during an interview with People.

As Slaton and Lovvorn await their day in court, the charges against them add to the already tumultuous narrative of Slaton's year. Fans of *1,000-Lb. Sisters* and the public alike will be watching closely as the legal process unfolds. For now, Slaton remains behind bars, facing a difficult road ahead as she navigates these serious allegations.
