Changes in the seasons are a great opportunity to teach children. They can learn about where food comes from. They can also learn how to prepare food.

Cooking with young children can teach them vital skills. For example, children need math skills when measuring ingredients. They also improve language skills when reading the recipe.

Here are five easy fall-themed recipes to try with children.

No-Bake Pumpkin Pie

Crush graham crackers in a sealed sandwich bag. Place the crumbs into the bottom of the cup or bowl.

Next, assemble the layers of the pie. We recommend using:

  • Vanilla pudding

  • Pumpkin pie filling

  • Whipped cream

  • Cinnamon or nutmeg (topping)

Applesauce

You first need to chop apples. Boil them in a pot with water. Transfer to a bowl when soft.
