Fans of the popular fighting video game series "Tekken" is eager to take their hands on the upcoming title "Tekken 7." However, the game remains inaccessible to many gamers who are looking forward to playing it.
According to CrossMap, "Tekken 7" is limited outside Japan and much to the disappointment of many gamers and fans, Bandai seemed to stop releasing playable chadracters following their release of the Mishima matriarch, Kazumi Mishima way back in June 2 of this year.
Initially, there were 20 available characters upon release. The characters were released one-by-one with no particular time frame. Afterwards, Bandai added seven more characters in "Tekken 7:" Jin Kazama (March 31, 2015), Devil Jin (April 7, 2015), Jose Rizal (April 21, 2015), Gigas (April 28, 2015), Yoshimitsu (May 12, 2015), Jack-7 (May 19, 2015) and Kazumi (June 2, 2015).
Of the 27 characters released, eight of them made their debut in "Tekken 7," these characters are Katarina Alves, Claudio Serafino, Lucky Chloe, Shaheen, Jose Rizal, Gigas, Jack-7 and Kazumi Mishima.
Is Bandai downsizing the number of playable characters?
"Tekken 7's" predecessor "Tekken 6" flaunts a total of 42 playable characters, 10 more characters than "Tekken 5." In fact, "Tekken" executive-producer Katsuhiro Harada announced at PlayStation: The Official Magazine, "The number of playable characters will be bigger than Tekken 5 and be the largest roster in the series."
Bandai should know that the more playable characters available, the more fun it is for gamers. If "Tekken 6" has the largest roster in the series, maybe they can at least add more for "Tekken 7."
According to Yibada via Christian Post, there are rumors that Jun Kazama and Eliza will be joining the playable characters of the console version of "Tekken 7." Harada already teased Eliza's return in a tweet to fan. As for Jun, Harada hinted that he is not dead, just "missing in action."
Well, perhaps it's too early to be concerned on the number of playable characters. Who knows Bandai will add new characters or some old characters will return after they release "Tekken 7." We hope so.
Meanwhile, CrossMap stressed that it's impossible that the title will be released at the end of 2015, if one will referenced to the timeline of the previous "Tekken's" release date.
"Tekken 6" was released in arcade on Nov. 26, 2007 as usual, only in Japan. However, it was only made available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 after a year and 11 months. Then on PlayStation portable a month later.
"Tekken 7" was released in arcade March 18 of this year. Thus, with the same timeline, the title could be available at the latter part of 2016 or early 2017.
"Tekken 7" is developed using the more advanced Unreal Engine 4, shifting to a new engine is probably another challenge to Bandai that will likely affect the title's release date. We'll see the next update from Bandai.
