Google's flagship mobile phone devices have finally launched. The Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X are already earning reviews from tech experts online, but which one is the most preferred? Below is a breakdown of the devices' great and not-so great points:
Nexus 6P
Developed by Huawei, the Nexus 6P is a close match to Apple's iPhones, according to Tech Crunch. The device already comes with Google Android's latest operating system, Marshmallow, and it's priced at $499 for the 32GB model. There are also 64GB and 128GB models.
The processor to Nexus 6P is pretty fast as it makes use of Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. It has a large 5.7 inches screen and Gorilla Glass 4. It's supposed to be smudge resistant as well.
Camera functions come in two types, with the rear camera boasting of 12.3 megapixels with an IR autofocus. It can also shoot 4k videos at a rate of 30 frames a second. The front camera delivers 8 megapixels quality. Sound is enhanced with its stereo speaker, which makes for listening music or watching videos a lot better.
The smartphone looks sleek with its anodized aluminum and it is a bit heavy at 178 grams. Battery life is reliable and can last the whole day with regular use without recharging.
Nexus 5X
The Nexus 5X follows two years after the release of Nexus 5 and according to Digital Trends, this new smartphone is quite better than the first version.
Unlike the Nexus 6P, the Nexus 5X is more lightweight and durable, but not everyone seems to be loving the phone's matte plastic material nor its colored back panels. Fortunately, there is a choice for an all-black panel to keep the look more streamlined.
The Nexus 5X has Gorilla Glass 3 5.2 inches display only. However, it is an improvement from its predecessor. Against other phablets in the market, this device is a lot smaller, but it's easier to hold and handle.
The 12.3 megapixel back camera sticks out, but the bump is smooth and may be easily disregarded. The camera also features a LED flash and laser autofocus, which is usual for many of the brand's designs. Speakers to the Nexus 5X is much improved and whether the phone is facing down or up, it doesn't take away the quality the sound.
Nexus 5X is $120 cheaper than the Nexus 6P, according to Arstechnica, and it still matches up to the more expensive version in terms of power and performance, according to Android Pit. However, the review also stated that overall, the Nexus 6P is still the better phone.
