Great news for fans of the Ubisoft stealth game series Assassin's Creed! The next installment, "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate," is nearing its release on Friday, Oct. 23. But before that, here are the top five things that you need to know.
The Setting
According to Independent, Syndicate will take place in London, at the height of the Industrial Revolution in 1868.
The game will follow the story of two siblings, Jacob and Evie Frye, and will be able to play with both characters. So far, details regarding how much control Evie has in the game's campaign are unknown, although according to rumor, gamers will play as Jacob for three-fourths of the campaign.
Added news: Although earlier installments had a very good multiplayer mode, sadly multiplayer mode will not return for Syndicate. The game will only have a single player mode.
Map
According to Gamespot, the map for the game is huge and accurate. Gamespot editor Danny O'Dwyer, a former London resident, said that the game's recreation of London is pretty "spot-on" good.
The game's map features six real-world boroughs, which include Whitechapel, Westminster, Southwark, the Strand, and Lambeth. Also featured in the game's world is the river Thames.
In an earlier interview with IGN, Ubisoft said that Assassin's Creed Unity, which was set in Paris during the French Revolution, had a smaller map than Syndicate's. Syndicate's map will be around 30 percent larger than Unity's.
Special Characters
According to the Assassin's Creed blog, famous historical characters will be included in the game, and will cross paths with Jacob and Evie. They will include Alexander Graham Bell, Charles Darwin, Charles Dickens, Karl Marx, Florence Nightingale, and even Queen Victoria.
Season Pass
According to Independent, Syndicate will have a Season Pass, which will include multiple story-based packs. The first DLC will focus on Jack the Ripper, 20 years after the main game's events.
Other content included in the Season Pass:
- An exclusive ”A Long Night” mission;
- The Victorian Legends pack and Steampunk pack coming in November;
- The Last Maharaja mission pack, coming in 2016;
- Permanent XP boost;
- The Runaway Train mission.
Preorder- and Console-Exclusive Content
Those who preorder the game will receive the Darwin and Dickens Conspiracy mission.
Additionally, Syndicate has PS4-exclusive content, called “The Dreadful Crimes,” which will feature ten missions.
There you have it. Excited? Assassin's Creed: Syndicate will be released October 23 on PS4 and Xbox One, and November 19 on PC.
