The iPhone has been the staple smartphone for most people, but the recent update on its iOS software, iOs 9.0.2, came with a lot of issues that some users opt not to jump ship with the change.
According to Apple's website, the iOs 9.0.2 comes with bug fixes and various features such as the following:
• Fixes an issue with the setting to turn on or off app cellular data usage
• Resolves an issue that prevented iMessage activation for some users
• Resolves an issue where an iCloud Backup could be interrupted after starting a manual backup
• Fixes an issue where the screen could incorrectly rotate when receiving notifications
• Improves the stability of Podcasts
However, despite the promised fixes, according to a report from Forbes, the Apple iOS 9.0.2 has some "nasty surprises" that may lead users to second think. Here are some of the issues on Apple iOS 9.0.2 to be considered before hitting update.
1. Problematic iMessage
According to a Reddit thread, the iMessage doesn't work as it only sends a text message.
A certain xFoReIgnMoLex shared another problem on iMessage, "When I send messages to people with older iPhones (iPhone 5S and iPhone 6) with iOS8, my iMessage doesn't say "delivered" but rather it sends the message as a green text message a few minutes after."
According to Kelreddit, phone company's like T-Mobile and Verison are also aware of the issue. "I spoke with Apple and T-Mobile within the last hour (10/7/15 at 4 pm Pacific time). Both are aware of the problem," said the Redditor.
2. Game Center Doesn't Load
Forbes states that more bugs have been hitting Apple's Game Center. In an Apple forum, hundreds of Apple users report that the Game Center does not load.
“Problem is known and being examined. You have two options: #1 is to restore to blank iOS9 and DO NOT LOAD any backup for a few days until we work on the iCloud backup data and let you know when you can restore it (probably at the same time as a fix is issued) or #2 is to restore to your latest iOS8 full backup and wait for the fix to be issued before upgrading again to iOS9,” says thread commentor Cyberic.
3. Touchscreen Failures
Perhaps, one the biggest inconveniences of the iOS 9.0.2 is the touchscreen, which, according to a thread on Apple Community, has stopped working properly.
A user, Bonsai, has reported the problem and said, "I updated my iPhone 5s 64g to iOS 9.0.2 from 9.0.1 last night over wifi, immediately the phone started misregistering my finger press and touch locations. The screen now intermittently opens apps, fails to allow the keyboard to be used correctly, will register touches when I am not even touching the phone."
With the problems above and other reported issues such as broken app installs and notifications and hanging email, users must first weigh the pros and cons before updating their iOS software.
