'Underworld 5' Trailer & Plot: Kate Beckinsale, Theo James Begin Shooting In Prague -- Complete Cast & Character Details Here!

Sony has announced that "Underworld 5" is in the works, and the cast has started the 10-week shoot in Prague and in surrounding areas.

According to Slashfilm, Kate Beckinsale returns to play the lead role of Selene, a role she has played since 2003. Alongside her is returnee Theo James, who reprises his role as David from 2012's "Underworld: Awakening."

James is apparently more famous now, thanks to his role as Four in the Divergent series. Earlier reports say that he will take the lead in the new movie, and that he will take the lead role in the Underworld series when Beckinsale is out.

Beckinsale is reportedly “transitioning out,” and James will be leading “a new and younger generation of vampires and werewolves who are locked in a seemingly never-ending battle between supernatural races.”

Charles Dance also returns as vampire elder Thomas, David's dad. He is probably more recognized as Tywin Lannister, a role he plays in "Game Of Thrones."

Aside from Dance, other GOT actors are coming in. Tobias Menzies (from Outlander) is confirmed to play the role of a new lycan leader, while James Faulkner (Randyll Tarly, GOT) will also appear, albeit in an unspecified role as of now.

According to a press release, other actors include Lara Pulver (Sherlock) who will play the role of a “fiercely ambitious vampire,” Peter Andersson ("The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"), newcomer Clementine Nicholson, Bradley James (A&E's upcoming "Damien") and Daisy Head (the upcoming "Fallen").

Underworld 5 will be directed by Anna Foerster. She has previously directed episodes of the TV series "Criminal Minds" and "Outlander," and is famous for her work as cinematographer on blockbuster movies such as "Independence Day" "The Day After Tomorrow," and "White House Down."

Screenplay has been written by Cory Goodman, based on characters created by Kevin Grevioux, Len Wiseman, and Danny McBride. The film will be produced by Tom Rosenberg ("Million Dollar Baby"), Gary Lucchesi ("Million Dollar Baby"), Richard S. Wright ("Underworld"), David Kern ("Underworld: Awakening") and Len Wiseman ("Underworld: Total Recall").

Foerster's behind-the-scenes team includes cinematographer Karl W. Lindenlaub ("The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian," "Independence Day"), production designer Ondrej Nekvasil ("Snowpiercer"), costume designer Bojana Nikitovic ("A Good Day to Die Hard"), and editor Peter Amundson ("Pacific Rim," "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans").

According to ScreenRant, Underworld 5 will be called “Underworld: Next Generation,” and will be released in theaters on Oct. 21, 2016.
