Many are waiting for the release of the anticipated game "The Last Guardian," but the release date remains a secret. It's uncertain if Scott Rohde's announcement is something positive or not.
Rohde, Sony senior vice president of product development has announced that "The Last Guardian" will be shipped when it's done. According to Game Spot via CrossMap, Rohde said in an interview, "I will not give you a detailed update, but I will say one thing. It goes back in my mind to innovation and to gamers and to quality. That title is going to ship when it is absolutely ready."
Rohde did not set a deadline for "The Last Guardian," Game Spot has learned.
"I think that's a really important thing to remember, that it would be very easy to ship a game when it's not quite ready because we need to meet a business plan," he said. "Gamers are first. And the experience that we provide is first. And that's why we're going to talk about that game when we're ready to talk about it."
In September 2013, Sony explained the numerous events when "The Last Guardian" was no-show and the lack of information about the title by saying that they are just waiting for the right moment to "re-introduce" the game.
"The Last Guardian" for PS4 was revealed during Sony E3 2015 press conference. A new developer Gen Design is leading the project, but SCE Japan Studio and Fumito Ueda's name were both mentioned.
Fumito Ueda who continued to advise on the development of the game apologized to fans for the delay of "The Last Guardian." "More than anything, I feel terribly sorry that for various reasons I have kept my audience waiting for such a long time," he said. "The details of when, where, and how [The Last Guardian] will be completed are beyond my control."
The report claims that the "The Last Guardian" PS4 made an appearance at the Tokyo Game Show this year. Fans who were expecting a playable demo were greeted with an unusual glimpse to the highly-anticipated fantasy game.
Sony's booth captured the crowd by featuring a virtual Trico, to which people can interact. Although, there was no gameplay footage, fans were very delighted to see the weird, yet cute and interesting creature name Trico, a giant, feathered creature, resembling a griffin.
In a separate report from Game Spot, Rohde confirmed that "The Last Guardian" has not been cancelled after initial reports say so. Sony president of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida disclosed that they were "reengineering" the game.
