Kate Middleton made headlines after the state banquet at Buckingham Palace with her classic outfit: a bespoke Jenny Packham dress, the Queen Mother's tiara and a pair of chandelier earrings. On the second day of Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit the Duchess of Cambridge donned another outfit that might set a trend.
Kate's "Guipure" plum-colored lace dress was designed by Dolce and Gabbana, which is sold at $3,495, Vanity Fair has learned. The report suggests that stylish dress "represents a bit of an edgier choice for the Duchess."
It seems that the royal mom is back into setting trends. However, while many were impressed with Kate's dress, Mirror reports that President Xi's outfit is "little less well-fitting, with the trousers appearing a touch too long."
She looked more relaxed as she greeted First Lady Peng Liyuan, a style icon in her own right, Daily Mail Online reports. The group attended a show featuring the creative and technological collaborations between China and Britain.
The best of Britain was also put on display on the same event, including the unconventional hat by the leading British milliner Philip Treacy, a Dalek and Tardis from "Doctor Who", and James Bond's Aston Martin. Aside from these, the royal treated their guests with a live performance by some of the casts of HBC's hit show "Poldark."
Among the guests was the "Kung Fu" star Jackie Chan. The excitement was visible when the royal couple met Chan, both were smiling as they posed for a photo alongside the martial artists and their other guests.
Victoria Murphy, Daily Mirror's Royal Correspondent and a Royal commentator posted a photo of Kate and Prince Willialm with their guests. She captioned it with, "Posing for a photo with Jackie Chan #ChinaStateVisit"
Meanwhile, during President Xi and Madame Peng's visit at the Imperial College London, the First Lady received a present that made her laugh. The gift was a cape, but it was not an ordinary one because its design was done through a computer analysis of about 700 photographs of her, Daily Mail Online has learned. See Madame Peng's reaction here.
According to BAFTA chief executive Amanda Berry, the visit was "a unique opportunity to showcase not only the best of British but also the relationships that are already happening in Britain and China." Berry added that the President had a smile on his face all the way round and was very engaged.
