'Elder Scrolls 6, Skyrim 2' Release Date Confirmed For 2019? New Report Talks Launch Timeline [Rumors]

Avid gamers waiting for the releases of a new "Elder Scrolls" or otherwise known as "Skyrim 2" may have to wait a few years more, as it looks like the release of "Elder Scrolls 6" has been pushed back to 2019.

Back in June, Bethesda confirmed in a Telegraph report that they are working on plenty of games, but kept details about "Elder Scrolls" under wraps. The single player gaming adventure was last released by the developer in 2011, and then an online version followed in 2014, according to IGN. The franchise is ripe for another single player adventure release, but the gaming developer is not one to do it so quickly.

"It's rare to have franchises like the ones we have and to have people joking about "when is Skyrim 2 coming out?" said Peter Himes, Bethesda's vice president for marketing, in the Telegraph report. "The reason they say that is because generally speaking that's what you'd be getting with another publisher in charge. They'd be spitting out a Skyrim 2 the year after or two years later. That's just not how we view it."

"We do smaller stuff, we don't publish to scale, we try to publish to quality. Make sure everything we do is noteworthy," Himes further said.

According to Crossmap, going by the trend Bethesda releases games for "Elder Scrolls," and counting the 2014 online version as part of the franchise, then it's likely that the a new single player game will come in 2019, and not 2016 as earlier rumored.

According to Neurogadget, one other reason that could explain the game release's delay is because Bethesda's current focus is in releasing "Fallout 4," which will finally happen on Nov. 10, 2015. Preparations for this have been keeping the company quite occupied with the finishing touches.

Meanwhile, according to Yibada, "Elder Scrolls 6" may yet become another multiplayer game that will feature game enhancements and better content. It also looks like Bethesda is keen on developing their multiplayer titles to add to "Doom" or "Dishonored 2" and to ride on the success of "Fallout 4," thus this assumption by fans may hold water.

While there are no confirmation from the game developer, what is certain for now is that the upcoming "Elder Scrolls will not be a sequel to earlier releases like "Morrowmind" or "Oblivion," as it was previously speculated, according to Inquistr. It will also not be about "Redguard" as it was already cited that "Redguard" is in reference to a 1998 game release.
