Losing weight is something that a lot of American adults would want. Google "weight loss" and you'll find millions of results in just the blink of an eye. But will people lose weight simply by googling it?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, obesity is a common, serious and costly problem. More than one-third of American adults are obese, and are at high-risk for heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer.
Knowing these facts, it would help to know that weight loss can be achieved even by doing something simple. Are you looking for ways to help lose weight? Here are some helpful habit you can develop in your afternoons to help you lose weight.
Water Up
As simple as that. According to Popsugar, fitness trainer Chris Powell said that drinking cold water helps to hydrate the body, while drinking warm water helps to stay full, and thereby helps to lose weight.
CNN reports research has also added that drinking 16 ounces of water before a meal will really help you lose weight. Be sure to carry your water bottle with you, and refill it throughout the day.
Eat Right
With a lot of snacks made up of sugars and a lot of sodium, choosing the right snack in midday could be hard. To do this, Popsugar (via MSN) recommends preparing your own snack at home and taking it with you to work. Cutting up fresh fruits before going out or bringing in your homemade granola or nut bars will do good.
Preparing your own lunch will do you good, too. The key, according to Kris Gunnars, via Authority Nutrition, is to cut back on sugars and starches (carbs).
Lowering sugar and carb intake affects insulin secretion. Insulin is the main fat hormone of the body, and having less insulin means less fat.
Get Some Sunshine
Do you usually take a nap during your work breaks? Try taking a short walk outside the office. Or try going to that lunch spot with a co-worker by walking. A little walk a day will help, and will give some bonus sunshine.
Get Some Cardio
Popsugar recommends hitting the treadmills at the gym, or have a short run after work. This helps lose fat, and boost cheerfulness via a surge of endorphins.
Lift Some Weight
According to Gunnars, Three times a week will do. This is even easier if you're already doing the treadmills at the gym. You can ask help from the gym trainers for this.
