Singer Adele Says Motherhood Is 'F**king Hard' In First Interview In 3 Years

Grammy-winning artist Adele was on a hiatus for three years. At which time, she gave birth to a son she named Angelo, while creating her third album, "25." Between these two new milestones, Adele admits that one is a lot harder.

In the first-ever print interview with i-D magazine following her absence, Adele said that motherhood wasn't as easy as she thought it would be; that it's "fucking hard," but "phenomenal" at the same time.

"It's the greatest thing I ever did. He makes me be a dickhead, and he makes me feel young and there's nothing more grounding than a kid kicking off and refusing to do what you're asking of them," she told the magazine. "It used to be that my own world revolved around me, but now it has to revolve around him," she added.

In creating her music video for her comeback single "Hello," Adele had to fly to Toronto to shoot with filmmaker Xavier Dolan. But the singer confessed that it was hard to be away from her two-year old boy for the shoot. "It was the most exhausting thing ever, being without my baby," she said. Adele's sacrifices and hard work are paying off quite phenomenally because a week after the release of the video for "Hello," the song has already charted almost a hundred million views on Youtube.

Adele reflects that she's making a conscious effort to raise her son with the same values and morals she was taught as a child, but only in a different environment. Adele grew up in a working-class family, but obviously, her son is much more privileged.

According to Today, when Adele gave birth to Angelo, her career was going through another transition before dropping off the radar. Thankfully, her loyal fans understood why she had to be out of the limelight.

The hiatus also gave her the opportunity to work on "25," which will soon be released on Nov. 20. Famous for her heart-wrenching break-up songs, the singer swears that this time "25" is all about making up with exes, friend or family.

The "Chasing Pavements" hit maker also said she's not regretting that she took time to release her newest album. "Sometimes I wonder if I've missed it by a year, bringing it back. But you know, I was being a mom. I couldn't rush it. And you've got to give people a chance to miss you," she told i-D.
