When it was announced that Gal Gadot would be playing the iconic role of Wonder Woman, not many people liked the idea. The actress has already responded to criticisms she's not right for the part in the past, and it looks like she has found an ally in her "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" co-star Ben Affleck and director Zack Snyder.
In the latest issue of Total Film magazine, Snyder assured fans of the superhero franchise that there's more to see from Gadot. "She's able to bring her story as the tease of more to come," said Snyder, according to Comic Book. The sentiment was echoed by Affleck. "I think once you've seen this movie, you'll realize why they immediately wanted to go and make her own standalone movie, because [Gal]'s just incredible," the actor said.
Aside from being part of the "Batman V Superman" film, Gadot is also working on Wonder Woman's own story, which will begin filming next month. This time, Wonder Woman's solo movie will be directed by Patty Jenkins and word has it that Chris Pine is already confirmed to be part of the cast as her love interest, according to E! Online.
Just like her other co-stars, Pine has nothing but good words for Gadot, whom he described as "super talented." He also admitted he is "super excited" about working with her. "With a woman in the lead role. I am teamed with this intelligent, beautiful and strong woman to defeat the villains and save humanity," said the actor, according to the E! report.
Meanwhile, despite her critics, Gadot is choosing to put her focus on the good side of being asked to play Wonder Woman. "I feel like I've been given a huge opportunity to inspire people, not only women. And not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for," the actress said via Interview.
Gadot also acknowledged that the public will always have their opinion and there will always be opposing viewpoints. She believes that it's part of the job as an actress, but the most important thing is that she takes her craft seriously. "I do my research and I give it my best. I just want to be able to shine and inspire people," she said.
"Wonder Woman" will open in theaters in 2017, while "Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice" is coming in March 2016.
