Apple is reportedly working on the new iPhone 7, and it is going to have better specs than ever.
Current smartphones have good specs. Thus, there's no better direction than to just keep improving.
Neurogadget reported that the iPhone 7 will be the thinnest iPhone to date when it releases, measuring just 6mm thin. For perspective, this is about as thin as the current iPod Touch.
Not only that, it's reported to have more RAM at 3GB which will go with a new next-generation A10 system on a chip (SoC) from Apple. It could also come with USB-C functionality.
iDigital Times added that the new flagship might also sport a 2K resolution display, can be charged wirelessly via a wireless charging dock, could come equipped with front-facing speakers, and might also be armed with an 8MP front-facing camera good for high-quality selfies.
The iPhone 7 is also rumored to be waterproof. It could come in a non-metallic casted body that will give the gadget waterproof functionality. This new addition might draw in some fearful users who are anxious to spend lots of cash on something they just might destroy by accidental dropping in water, or being spilled at.
Valuewalk reported that there is a possibility that Apple will release three iPhone models next year: a standard, customary smartphone; a phablet; and a 4-inch smartphone that would be in line with what the late Steve Jobs envisioned. Although some sources report that the iPhone 7c (the small phone) would be appearing now, Apple might delay its launch and let it come along with the new models.
A redesign could also be underway. With Apple trying to enhance the 3D Force Touch experience, the home button might be taken out, so that the 3D touch display could be maximized. Another possible move is that the home button could be remade as a joystick, as Apple took to the gaming direction with the Apple TV. The news outlet reports that as smartphones designed for gaming sell really well, Apple might also join the fray.
For the display, aside from the rumored 2K resolution, Apple is also rumored to work with rival Samsung to have a curved display possible for the iPhone 7. Apple could install curved or edge-to-edge displays, much like Samsung's Edge displays. This latter option could give Apple the opportunity to make the phone smaller, while retaining the screen size.
Apple Insider reported that Apple is considering to release the iPhone 7 on July 2016, months earlier from the formerly reported September. Prices are still unknown as of now.
