Pixar and Disney's highly-anticipated sequel to "Finding Nemo" has revealed its first poster Monday. "Finding Dory" star Ellen DeGeneres posted the teaser on her show's Twitter account, adding that an "exclusive first look" is also expected to come out the following day.
The poster follows a similar concept as the previous film's poster, using the same fonts in the title with the deep blue see in the background. The half part of Dory's body only provides a glimpse of the main character and the poster plays up on the tagline "She just kept swimming...," a fitting nod to the first movie.
Per Screen Rant, the sequel's timeline is only six months after the end of the original story with Dory trying to find out about her roots.
"The movie will be mostly set at the California Marine Biology Institute, a huge complex of sea life rehabilitation and aquarium, where Dory was born and raised," said Pixar's Jim Morris in an interview with Collider in December. "We will get to meet new characters, like an octopus, sea lions, a beluga whale, among others," added Morris.
Screen Rant also reported that "Finding Dory" was originally planned as set in an aquatic theme park. However, Disney and Pixar decided to change the setting because of the real-life controversy surrounding the Sea World theme park.
Slashfilm reported that the story of "Finding Dory" will begin with the character suffering a minor trauma that will bring forth memories and nightmares. Dory will remember how her parents look, but the visions will only make her wonder about who she really is. So with help from her friends, Dory will return home to dig up the truth about her past.
Like DeGeneres, Albert Brooks returned to lend his voice to the animated movie as Merlin, Dory's friend. But the cast was also joined by actors like like Ed O'Neill, Ty Burrell, Kaitlin Olsen, Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy to voice new characters like Hank, a "cantankerous octopus," Bailey, a "misguided beluga whale," Destiny, a "kind-hearted whale shark," and Jenny and Charlie who are Dory's parents.
"Finding Nemo" director Andrew Stanton also returned to helm the follow up movie, per Cinema Blend. The film will come to theaters June 2016.
