It is only a few months away before the first "Justice League" film starts its pre-production in mid-January next year, and, along with that, fans expect that casting for the movie's superhero characters will be revealed soon. A report from Heroic Hollywood spills that another DC superhero will make its debut on the big screen in "Justice League: Part One."
According to the news outlet, they received a "hot tip" from talent agency sources that apart from Wonder Woman, another girl hero will be featured in the film. The said new character is Mera, the Queen of Atlantis.
According to Comic Book Resources, in the comics, Mera is Aquaman's wife and also has also developed special powers and abilities while living underwater. The report notes that Mera is known to have the ability to "control water in mass quantities" as well as super strength.
Heroic Hollywood further reveals that Mera was supposed to be debuted in the solo "Aquaman" movie, which is slated for 2018, but the report notes that the Queen of Atlantis appearance in "Justice League: Part One" is logical. However, there is still no confirmation if Aquaman's other half will be one of the core cast of the Justice League team or will just have a minor role in the film.
Cinema Blend states that the character of Aquaman for his solo film will be played by Jason Momoa's, famously known for his role as Khal Drogo in "Game of Thrones." Thus, it is fitting to describe Mera as the "Khaleesi of the sea." In "Aquaman," per Heroic Hollywood, the union of Mera and Aquaman will represent a unification of two feuding factions in Atlantis. However, the Queen of Atlantis have been mind controlled for several times to turn against his husband. Mera and Aquaman also have a son, and the queen of the underwater city will be placed in a position to choose between his son or husband.
There is still no news on the actress that will play as the "Khaleesi of the sea" in "Justice League: Part One," so fans must have to wait for further news in the future to know more about this.
"Justice League: Part One" is slated to hit cinemas on Nov. 17, 2017, while "Aquaman" will be released a year after on July 27, 2018.
