"Star Wars: Battlefront" is set to hit store shelves Tuesday, Nov. 17 and a day before its big launch, developer Electronic Arts announced the details regarding its DLC season pass along with multiplayer maps.
Per Star Wars EA, fans of the gaming franchise can expect four digital expansion packs for release by 2016. These expansion packs will include enhancements that offer new locations and game features, including a "Shoot First" emote.
Per Forbes, the updates will be down to $49.99, with the following offers:
- Four new game codes
- Four new characters, which may either be heroes or villains
- 16 added multiplayer maps
- 20 galactic items, which will include weapons, vehicles and Star Cards representing both the Rebels and Imperials
Fans of the game can already avail of a two-week early access from the site, but despite its loaded offers, naysayers say that the game's content is still lacking. "There simply isn't enough content or variety here to justify a $60 purchase," said another Forbes review.
Standard Edition Content
Per PC Gamer, "Star Wars: Battlefront" will have the following content for its standard edition on the date of its launch:
- Six heroes
- Five traits
- 11 Power ups
- 10 vehicles
- Six charge Star Cards
- 13 Star Cards
Playing Ahead of Release Date
Per Gotta Be Mobile, while the actual release date is Tuesday, those living in the Pacific, Mountain and Central time zones can start digitally downloading their copies a day before. For an additional fee, Xbox One players could be able to access the game ahead of the rest, via the EA Access Program. However, this will only provide 10 hours of gaming time, as the full version will be out on the official launch day. For gamers who would like to maximize their gameplay, there's also an option to get the deluxe edition, which is priced $10 more than the standard edition.
Special Offers
Some retailers offer special deals on a "Star Wars" Battlefront" purchase, such as gift cards via Dell or buyer rewards via Best Buy. Other sites offer $5-$10 off, so it's up to the consumer to consider where the best deals are.
