'Wonder Woman' Movie: Chris Pine Playing Dual Roles in Film, He's Steve Trevor & Someone From The Past [Rumors]

Gal Gadot's “Wonder Woman” is one of the most highly-anticipated superhero movies in the DC Extended Universe. Being one of those hero movies with a female lead, this 2017 is receiving well-deserved attention, especially now that more details are surfacing.

Reportedly, Chris Pine will be playing Diana Prince's love interest, Steve Trevor. Now, a photo posted by co-star Said Taghmaoui (but then quickly taken down) that showed Pine wearing clothes looking like it's from World War II makes one think otherwise.

The photo seems to affirm reports that “Wonder Woman” will have scenes set in the WWII period. However, Steve Trevor is in the modern day period, confusing some people. How could that possibly be?

It turns out, according to Heroic Hollywood's sources, that Pine will be playing a dual role. He will play as Steve Trevor and his grandfather.

Trevor's grandfather reportedly crashes on the island and meets Diana during the movie's WWII period. Diana nurses him to health, and follows him back to the real world. He then helps her beat Ares, and after that, he passes away.

Fast forward to modern day times, Diana meets Trevor's descendant who strikingly resembles him, and again helps her fight the same foe, Ares. This means that Pine will play both the World War One Trevor, and the modern-day Steve Trevor.

Screen Rant reports that although the idea seems to play well with the multiple timeline structure of “Wonder Woman,” Steve Trevor being the grandson of the older Trevor is quite unlikely due to the long span of time between both periods. If the rumor is confirmed, it would be more sensible for the older Trevor to be Steve's great-grandfather or even great-great-grandfather.

Regarding Pine's co-star Taghmaoui, it is still unclear as to what his role will be, but in an interview with French magazine Ultra (translated by SR), he said that he'll play the role of a superhero.

“I’ll be playing a superhero, but details are still under wraps. I can’t tell you much. I was among hundreds of potential candidates, and I slowly became the favorite. It wasn’t easy. It took me three months.”

It's possible that he would be playing Dan Garrett who, as an archaeologist in World War II, got his powers from an Egyptian Blue Scarab and became the first Blue Beetle.

As production will begin shortly, expect to get more scoops on Gal Gadot's “Wonder Woman.”

“Wonder Woman releases June 23, 2017.
