Actress and mother of two Brooke Shields recently got hands-on with a baby at the 21st Annual Playground Party in Central Park Conservancy, New York, and accidentally startled the bouncing infant while playing with it, according to the Daily Mail.
Upon greeting the baby of a photographer who was documenting the family-friendly fundraiser, Shields startled the little one who was relaxing in his mother's front carrier, the baby "apparently startled by her smiling approach" and allegedly became frightened as the star bent down and touched his feet. Luckily, the baby relaxed as Shields continued to play with and coo at them, the initial shock having tapered off.
The star looked chic and sophisticated in a white blouse, patterned black high-waisted pencil skirt and pretty white chunky heels, wearing her long brown locks long and wavy at the event.
Shields, who is the honorary chair of the event which takes place each year, is the mother of 10-year old daughter Rowan and seven-year old son Grier, and has been married to television writer Chris Henchy for 12 years. In 2009, the star spoke about her struggle with postpartum depression after giving birth to her daughter.
"I finally had a healthy beautiful baby girl and I couldn't look at her," she said at the time. "I couldn't hold her and I couldn't sing to her and I couldn't smile at her...All I wanted to do was disappear and die."
Before giving birth to Rowan, Shields suffered a miscarriage and went through seven IVF attempts before finally conceiving.
"If I had been diagnosed with any other disease, I would have run to get help," she said. "I would have worn it like a badge...I didn't at first - but finally I did fight. I survived."
