There is still a long way to go before "Frozen 2," Disney's sequel to its blockbuster hit "Frozen," will hit cinemas. However, with millions of fans all over the world, there is much speculation on the story and characters, including one of the most beloved sidekick, Olaf. Will the funny snowman charm fans with a new love?
According to a report from Cross Map, there are speculations that Olaf will fall in love in "Frozen 2." However, there is still no uncertainty if Olaf's girlfriend is human or made of snow.
Telegraph notes that Olaf having a girlfriend is vital for Disney. This new angle will not only make the plot exciting, but it will also boost merchandise sales. Apart from Anna, Kristoff and Elsa, one of the most popular characters in "Frozen" is Olaf, and him having a love interest would "send the cuteness factor over the edge."
Josh Gad, the actor who plays Olaf, expressed his excitement for "Frozen 2." He said to E! News, "I'm just excited that they announced it. I have complete faith in the creative team and I'm excited to hear that it's happening at this point."
Last March, Disney announced that "Frozen 2" has been green lit via a tweet saying, "Forecast: Winter weather ahead! @DisneyAnimation developing #Frozen2 with Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee."
Meanwhile, in other "Frozen 2" news, Parent Herald previously reported that there will be a "magical twist" happening between sisters Elsa and Anna, where the younger sister of Arrendale will be the focus of the second film. However, director Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee quickly denounced the rumor, saying that Anna's only superpower is love, per an interview with Hit-Fix.
The Telegraph further notes that despite fan's eagerness to see the sequel, "Frozen 2" won't be released before 2018. Considering that Disney is packed with three more films before "Frozen 2" can be developed. Also, the first "Frozen" film was released two years after its announcement, which means that fans have to wait a little more.
Also, apart from Gad, Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel will be back for "Frozen 2." Bell even tweeted the annoucement by posting funny pictures of her with a bag of ice. Back in March, Bell told the Huffington Post that she will always be ready for a "Frozen" sequel. "Should my phone ring, I will be there in a heartbeat," said Bell.
It is also rumored that Elsa will don a new dress come "Frozen 2." Telegraph says that Elsa's iconic blue dress has been a hit that Disney will not pass up the chance to create another outfit for Elsa.
Exciting as it may seem, some of these details are still speculations, and we must still wait for further “Frozen 2” announcements from Disney to confirm them.
